1. Sarnath
Sarnath is one of the most venerated Buddhist destinations located 13 kilometers northeast of Varanasi in India's Uttar Pradesh state. It is the site of the deer park where Gautam Buddha first taught the Dharma after his enlightenment. Located in the city of Madurai. It is also one of the main attractions of South India, with thousands of devotees thronging it every day. Meenakshi Amman temple, also known as Minakshi Sundareshwara temple, is India's oldest and most famous temple. The temple has a great mythological and historical significance. The temple is well maintained and was named the’ Best swachh Iconic Place’ in India. This temple is dedicated to goddess Meenakshi, the consort of Lord Shiva. 4. Elephanta caves
The Elephant Island is located 10 kilometers away from the Gateway of India at Mumbai in Maharashtra. The cave temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The elephant caves are found on Elephanta Island. This place is a conglomeration of seven caves, excluding the porticos on the three open sides and the back aisle; it is 27 meters square and supported by rows of 6 columns. There are sculptured compartments in this cave with remarkable images of Ardhanarisvara, Kalyana –Sundara Shiva, Andhakari murti, and Nataraja Shiva. 5. Mahabalipuram
Mahabalipuram is positioned on the Coromandel Coast of the Bay of Bengal. Mahabalipuram is situated close to Chennai in Kancheepuram district, Tamil Nadu. Mahabalipuram is an important place of classical Monuments in India, the monolithic and cave temples. It is also known by other names such as Mamallapuram and Mamallapattana. The term Mahabalipuram means city of ‘great power. This place attracts a large number of visitors from all over the world. This place is situated close to the Sea and rich in artistic wealth.
6. Konark Sun Temple
Konark Sun Temple, located in the eastern state of Odisha near the sacred city of Puri, is dedicated to the Sun God or Surya. It is a monumental representation of the Sun God and conceived as a giant stone chariot with 24 wheels; it is decorated with symbolic designs, and it is led by a team of six horses. Konark Sun Temple is the most famous of the few Sun temples built in India. It was built by King Narasimhadeva. The temple in its present state was declared by UNESCO a World Heritage Site in 1984. Although many portions are now ruined, what remains of the temple complex continues to draw tourists and Hindu pilgrims. Konark stands as a classic example of Hindu temple architecture, completes with a colossal structure, sculpture, and artwork on myriad themes.
