ONE OUTPUT PIPE
Single outlet exhaust systems are the most popular kind. Usually, vehicles you purchase from a dealer have them. Although they are the least expensive to produce and install, these pipes are not the most effective. There will always be a pipe exit on the passenger side of the vehicle.

TWO REAR EXITS
Typically found on sportier cars or added to make a vehicle appear sportier is the dual rear outlet exhaust system. It enhances the exhaust's deeper note, making the engine sound more powerful. This system uses two exhaust pipes on opposite sides of the car. Unlike other systems, the pipes don’t bend around the wheels.
OPPOSITE DUAL EXHAUST
Where dual rear exhaust systems don’t bend, opposite dual exhaust systems work a bit differently. They wrap around the wheel, using the bend to add to the filtering process. You’ll see them more on vehicles that tow large loads like boats or trailers.
DUAL SIDE EXHAUST
Just as the name implies, a dual side exhaust system has two pipes next to each other on one side. The two pipes expel gasses more efficiently than single exit pipes. They look and sound like high-performance systems and offer some enhancement in performance.

EXCELLENT PERFORMANCE
Although they cost more, high-performance exhaust systems are more effective at filtering out the gases. They must, however, be installed aftermarket on the vehicle because they are not standard. An automobile's efficiency and engine performance may occasionally be improved by installing a high-performance exhaust system.
As a subset of engine tuning, many automakers provide aftermarket exhaust system modifications. Because it normally involves replacing the complete exhaust manifold or other big components, this is frequently extremely expensive. However, by lowering exhaust back pressure and the quantity of heat lost from the exhaust into the underbonnet region, these modifications can greatly increase engine performance. As a result, the intake manifold temperature drops, lowering the underbonnet temperature and boosting power. Preventing heat-sensitive components from getting damaged is another benefit of this.
The most popular way to lower backpressure is to switch from exhaust manifolds to headers, which often have bigger pipe diameters and smoother bends.
