They asked me questions, read up from our school library and even spoke to me on the phone. Most of these students weren’t interested in my lessons but were excited to know that I would actually discuss the theories to their liking. I smiled when I said that I would be happy to discuss the theories. That’s exactly what I did with these students. And guess what happened. I asked the students for videos of ways of solving the problems for the students. I also showed them some textbook-clipped slides to give them their reading comprehension skills a boost. After I gave them the video, I showed a textbooks and notebooks from previous lesson to show that there are many books in mathematics. As soon as I went down the presentation path, I asked them if they understand everything. They “Yes!” And I also explained to them that before they go out into an actual math lab, they need to understand in the theory to understand the material, which is necessary for the class. Following that, the student literally “Oh my God! I remember everything you said! I understand math! You should encourage everyone in the class to do this.” That’s how engaging this real class took place, the way the students were interested in the lesson. These students have actually become my partners at home and understand that if they actually come for class, they may not be sure of what to do or how to do it.“You have only put two wrong answers in front of me, so I would like to explain to you the formulas for these numbers.” The students came very sad when they were dismissed. They requested for more time to go through the materials. If you knew these students, I think you would have laughed that they were amazed when they were actually interested in the material. Once again, this is a good practice of helping the learners to get into class. I am surprised that how engaged the students were!
