1. UPLOAD
You will definitely fall in love with this! This show is set in the future where there are self-driving cars, food printers! (How insane is that!) and many more, but there is also one portal or company which allows dying people to upload their consciousness on a digital cloud, making them sort of immortal digitally. There begins our story of Nathan and Nora. Nora is an "angel" that works for Lakeview, where Nathan's consciousness is uploaded. They both really hit it off, and you'd find yourself rooting for them even though he has a girlfriend named Ingrid, and also since one is alive and the other is,
well, digital. Still, they have this charming, sweet, and cute chemistry between them. There is also a mystery about how Nathan reaches there, which is also a big point in the series. The supporting cast is pretty good, and they are all lovable. Trust me; you won't stop till you've seen it all and then would want more. Amazon's Upload is the best thing that you can treat yourself to in these difficult times.
2. ALTERED CARBON
Amazing show! The narrative is very true to our selfish human nature and the quest to have eternal life. The Sci-Fi storylines, props, visuals, and ideas of earth 250 years into the future are pretty realistic to what (and where) our future is actually heading as we’re fast approaching singularity.
Using “constructs” in VR to interrogate criminals or arrange a sit-down meeting with clients thousands of miles away or off-planet puts them right in front of you within seconds. Sounds impossible, but we’re already creating virtual constructs, and it’s a technology for gaming and the military at present.
Traveling to and occupying other planets is also a big part of the show and our current real life. As Elon Musk and the Space X program are already mapping areas to build and colonize Mars, we’re also finding new planets in faraway galaxies that show signs of life and an abundance of new planets just waiting for us to find that source to travel through space at light speed.
Season 1 was my favorite. I especially liked how people talked about “ancient earth” and the great Roman Empire, etc. Season 2 was a bit challenging for Anthony Mackie to play Tekashi’s character (in my opinion), but it still keeps the point show. Can’t wait for season 3! Altered Carbon nails it with the perfect balance between human nature, religion, technology, politics, and character.
3. THE 100
The 100, a SciFi drama based on the novel series written by Kass Morgan. A nuclear conflict has destroyed the Earth and made the lands not suitable for living. To survive the artificial apocalypse, the people fly up to space and learn to thrive by living on a space station called Ark. Once the Ark reached the maximum carrying capacity, there's no other way other than to return to its roots.
Ninety-seven years later, a spaceship with 100 juvenile delinquents was sent back to earth to research earth's sustainability. Series of events unfold, as the teens with no guidance of adults start chaos and confusion for leadership. To surprise, some clans survived the apocalypse and still living on Earth after many generations.
The grounds, who live clash between clans for the power to rule. They have different blood( night blood/ Nablida) that makes them resistant to radiation as a part of evolution. They talk in trigedasleng. One phrase I'll always remember is " jus drain jus daun." Blood for blood. There is another clan of grounders, the Reapers. The mountain men, who were living in a lockdown since the apocalypse. So, technically speaking, 97 years of lockdown. With each season, a new living challenge was thrown to people. Saving the human race by Defeating Artificial intelligence, another Nuclear apocalypse, a new planet with many new dangers. A complete package of SciFi, supernatural phenomenon, and Thriller.
4. DARK
Dark is different from any other Time-travel movie or series. It takes time as an element that nothing has used before like it. The creators did an excellent job of storytelling, keeping the plot together, and shocking us every episode. The series plot is quite complicated, but if you have watched it entirely, then there will be some details that you have missed. It's one of the rare series that makes you completely lose your mind and does not stop thinking about the things you saw. The show lacks some humor as there are many adult plot points involved, but not to say as the show lives upto its name as it's dark in many ways. The creators decided to make a trilogy, but after the end of the 2nd season, there are many burning questions left that the fans need to get answers to, but until then, the first two seasons are worth watching.
Personally, I would recommend watching it in its original German version but will say that the English dub is good. You can go for it if subtitles are not your thing or you don't know german. This show takes time to travel to a new dimension and explores uniquely and boldly, keeping you coming for more.
Season 3 is a big ride that'll answer all your questions and tie all the loose threads together and give a story filled with mind-blowing plot twists and mysteries. Season 3 as a stand-alone is not the best, but it ends the series on a high note as a cumulative Trilogy. I can't speak much without spoilers, but the way the final few episodes play out is amazing. You'll never think of the way that it could've ended. In my opinion, the ending is the best sci-fi ending ever. All in all, without spoiling anything, it is one of the best shows of all time and the best sci-fi show ever made.
5. STRANGER THINGS
I really love Stranger Things! They really found the right people for the roles of all the characters. The plot is super unique, the scenes are thrilling, the character development is amazing, and I cannot stop watching. I swear, this show has me on the edge of my seat, waiting for what's going to happen next.
Millie Bobby Brown (one of my idols) made Eleven come to life. Even though her character doesn't have a lot of dialogue, you can tell what she's feeling, just from her facial expressions. Noah Schnapp is by far one of the best teen stars I've ever watched. His acting is magnificent! Finn Wolfhard is super talented as well. I only know him from It, but looking at his acting in Stranger Things, is amazing! Sadie Sink is amazing. Her character Max is super sassy and smart-mouthed, and I love it! Gaten Matarazzo's character Dustin is totally adorable. He's definitely one of the hilarious characters. Caleb McLaughlin's Lucas is also some super talented acting! He's definitely an underrated character. Winona Ryder (my idol, literally), her acting is so authentic and genuine, it seems as if she isn't even acting at all!
