Milk alone has all the nutrients that the human body needs. It is said that milk provides unique nutrition which can not be derived from any other food on this planet. However, most people drink milk in the wrong ways.
Here are the five reasons you are drinking milk the wrong way.
1. WITH FRUITS:
Yes, it's shocking, but milk is incompatible with most fruits. This is one of the biggest mistakes most people make unintentionally. Especially milk with sour fruits like oranges, lemons should strictly be avoided.
The only sour fruit that can be combined with milk is Indian gooseberry or amla. It may be with dates, mangoes, and bananas if they are sweet.
2. ADDING SUGAR:
Milk is naturally sweet as it contains lactose which is a type of sugar. The refined table sugar that we use in our home is processed with chemicals, hindering the absorption of milk nutrients. It also makes it indigestible. Sugar is empty calories, so that it may cause a gain in weight.
That's why if you want to sweeten the milk, use honey, mishri, or jaggery powder.
3. CHILLED MILK:
Sometimes especially in summers, we used to drink chilled milk in shakes and cold coffee. However, this does not go well with your system from within. Milk is heavy so drinking it chilled makes it even more challenging to digest. Drinking cold milk can lead to gas and constipation.
It is always recommended to drink warm milk or at least at room temperature. Heating milk changes its molecular structure, which becomes light and easy to digest.
4. WITH SALTY FOODS:
Do you enjoy namkeen with tea or milk?
If yes, then you are unknowingly damaging the system from within. According to Ayurveda, Milk + Salt = Slow poison. Also, it may cause various skin problems.
So make sure to keep a gap of at least 1hour between a salty meal and drinking milk.
5. WITH MEALS:
Milk is a complete meal in itself, which has all the nutrients required to nourish our body. Still, many people drink milk just after the meal. Drinking milk just before or after the meal, consider consuming two meals at a time. This puts an extra load on the digestive system. As a result, our body not just absorbs the nutrients from milk but also the meal.
Always keep a gap of at least 2 hours between the meal and the milk.
