2.Cricket
Cricket is the national game of Australia and England.
It is widely popular in those regions of the globe which were once under British raj. But in recent years, it's also gaining popularity around the planet.
The gentleman's game saw its origins in England. In the initial phase of cricket, the cricketing bat was very much similar to that of a hockey stick.
The game has 3 layouts, each varying in duration of time the game is to be played. Besides that, all the basic rules remain the same.
3.Hockey
The modern hockey game emerged in England in the mid-18th century and is largely attributed to the growth of public schools, such as Eton("The battle of Waterloo was won in the field of Eton" ).
In the modern era, hockey may be subdivided into two parts based on the surface upon which it played.
•Field hockey-:Its an outdoor version of the game previously played upon a grass field that is replaced by astroturf.
Field Hockey is the National game of countries such as India and Pakistan.
•Ice hockey-:Its an indoor version of the game played on ice and one of the most popular games in countries such as Canada, Russia, the USA, and some countries of Europe.
Also, it is the national game of Canada and the Czech republic.
4.Tennis
Tennis derives its name from the French word “tenez!” (in the sense of “here it comes!”), which we said to our opponent as we are about to serve. Designed and codified in England in the 1870s, it is the direct descendant of jeu de paume, invented in France. The medieval sport was originally practiced with bare hands.
Traditionally the game of tennis is played on a grass court, but in modern times, it is also played on a hard court and clay court.
The game is so popular that it is played in almost every country in the world.
5.volleyball
Volleyball involves two teams, each on one side of a raised net, trying to “volley” a ball onto the ground of the opposing team’s side for points.
One popular variant of the game, known as beach volleyball, is played on sand with two people on each team instead of a regular volleyball, where there are normally six players on each team.
William G. Morgan invented the sport back in 1895 in the country of the United States of America.
It is also the National game of Sri Lanka and Nepal.
