Top 5 Multi-Nutritious Rotis for Health and Fitness

Roti's have been an important dish in our day-to-day life, but we usually stick to one type of roti, wheat roti. The varieties of rotis are often disregarded, so we will try to recall some of these forgotten roti's. 

1. Brown Rice and Jowar Rotis

Ingredients

1/4 cup of Jowar

1/4 cup of Brown Rice

1/2 cup of Wheat Flour

1/4 cup of Coconut Milk (Optional)

 

1 tablespoon of Ghee

Make a dough of all these flours with water. Instead of water, you can use coconut milk to prepare the dough or cow's milk to prepare the dough. Let the dough rest for 15 minutes. Knead the flour with your hand and make a round ball and make nice round rotis. Serve hot with ghee.

2. Kuttu Roti

Ingredients

1 cup of Kuttu Flour (buckwheat flour)

1/2 tablespoon finely chopped Coriander Leaves 

1/2 medium to large Potato

3 to 4 tablespoons of warm water or as required

1/2 teaspoon of rock salt

 

Oil and Ghee as required

First, boil the potato till it is completely cooked. Peel and mash the potato till it is warm in a bowl. Take a mashed potato, take coriander leaves, and kuttu flour. Mix it. In this bit of rock, salt could be added. Now understand this add a very little hot water. Knead properly slowly, slowly, and then go on adding water as required. Make the dough in a way that you can make a roti.

 

Overall, you need to use 3-4 tablespoons of warm water. Now understand how to bake roti. Put a griddle or tawa on the fire. Roll your roti over a thin muslin and roll it around. Let it become warm, and then take the roti on the right palm. Remove the muslin and put the roti on Tawa. When one side is partly cooked, flip it on the other side and let it cook. 

Put half a teaspoon of ghee and flip it on the other side. Cook it for few minutes and flip again. Cook it till it has golden brown patches. Prepare this kottu roti and stag them in the basket. Serve kottu roti or paratha along with vegetables and curry, and enjoy your meal.

3. Bajra Ragi Roti

Ingredients

1/4 cup of Bajra (Pearl Millet)

1/4 cup of Ragi (Fingel Millet)

1/2 Wheat flour

1 tablespoon of Ghee

 

The dough should be prepared from the above ingredients. You can definitely add milk to prepare the dough or even yogurt and keep it for 15 minutes. Make a roti with hand preferably. Cook it well and serve it hot with ghee.

Ingredients

1/4 cup of Flaxseed

1/4 cup of Sesame

1/2 cup Wheat flour

1 tablespoon of Ghee

 

Prepare the dough by grinding flaxseed and sesame seed forcibly and adding them into wheat flour with water. Let the dough rest for a while before preparing roti. Prepare the roti round and nice ghee and serve with ghee.

5. Missi Roti

Ingredients

2 cups of Besan (Gram flour)

3/4 Wheat flour

3/4 Jeera or Cumin Seeds

1/4 ajwain or Carom Seeds

5-6 Peppercorns

Salt to taste

1 tablespoon of Oil or Ghee

 

Take a gram of flour and wheat flour in a bowl add cumin seeds, carom seeds, and peppercorns. Pound them into a powder. Take sufficient water and start needing dough. Add 1 tablespoon full of oil and add pounded spice powder, and then it into a dough. Cover the dough and keep it as it is atleast for 15 minutes. Roll small Rotis, heat the Tawa, and cook it from both sides. Serve hot with white butter or ghee.

This Missi Roti is high in fiber protein, and so it is most beneficial, and a person should use it once a week. This roti has fewer calories than regular flour. So try and eat this once in a week in your meal.

We often make roti of one type, but all these rotis when you make it are definitely much more beneficial, and that doesn't take any extra time. You will be able to really use it well and give proper nutrition to your body.
