PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG) is an online multiplayer battle royale game developed and published by PUBG Corporation, a subsidiary of South Korean video game company Bluehole.

The game is based on previous mods created by Brendan "PlayerUnknown" Greene for other games, inspired by the 2000 Japanese film Battle Royale, and expanded into a standalone game under Greene's creative direction.

In the game, up to one hundred players parachute onto an island and scavenge for weapons and equipment to kill others while avoiding getting killed themselves. The available safe area of the game's map decreases in size over time, directing surviving players into tighter areas to force encounters.

The last player or team standing wins the round.

Minecraft is a sandbox video game developed by the Swedish video game developer Mojang Studios. Markus "Notch" Persson created the game in the Java programming language.

Following several early private testing versions, it was first made public in May 2009 before fully releasing in November 2011, with Jens Bergensten then taking over development.

Minecraft has since been ported to several other platforms and is the best-selling video game of all time, with 200 million copies sold and 126 million monthly active users as of 2020.

In 2014, Mojang and Minecraft intellectual property was purchased by Microsoft for US$2.5 billion. Several spin-off games have also been produced, such as Minecraft: Story Mode, Minecraft Dungeons, and Minecraft Earth.

Apex Legends

Apex Legends is a free-to-play hero battle royale game developed by Respawn Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts.

It was released for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in February 2019 and Nintendo Switch in March 2021. The game supports cross-platform play.

The game is set in the same science fiction universe as Respawn Entertainment's Titanfall series.

A mobile version of the game specially designed for touchscreens, Apex Legends Mobile, has also been announced, which is scheduled to be fully released by 2022 on Android and iOS.

Work on the game began around late 2016, though the project remained a secret right up until its launch.

The game's release in 2019 came as a surprise, as until that point, it had been assumed that Respawn Entertainment was working on a third installment to the Titanfall franchise, the studio's previous major game.

Apex Legends received positive reviews from critics, praising its gameplay, progression system, and fusion of various genres.

Some considered it a worthy competitor to other battle royale games. Apex Legends surpassed 25 million players by the end of its first week and 50 million within its first month.

By April 2021, it had approximately 100 million players.

Call of Duty

Call of Duty is a first-person shooter video game franchise published by Activision. Starting in 2003, it first focused on games set in World War II.

Over time, the series has seen games set amid the Cold War, futuristic worlds, and outer space. The games were first developed by Infinity Ward, then also by Treyarch and Sledgehammer Games.

Other developers made several spin-offs and handheld games. The most recent title, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War was released on November 13, 2020.

As of April 2021, the series has sold over 400 million copies.^[1] With new games in the series released annually to blockbuster-level sales, the Guinness World Records verified the series as the best-selling first-person shooter game series.

It is also the most successful video game franchise created in the United States and the third highest-grossing video game franchise of all time.

Hearthstone

Hearthstone is a free-to-play online digital collectible card game developed and published by Blizzard Entertainment.

Originally subtitled Heroes of Warcraft, Hearthstone builds upon the existing lore of the Warcraft series by using the same elements, characters, and relics.

It was first released for Microsoft Windows and macOS in March 2014, with ports for iOS and Android releasing later that year.

The game features cross-platform play, allowing players on any supported device to compete, restricted only by geographical region account limits.
