Top 10 Horror Movies Of All Time
With Halloween right around the corner, I couldn't resist putting together this list of my top 10 horror movies of all time... and yes, when I say "favorite horror movies," I mean some of the scariest horror movies there. . I can look at myself again and still be afraid! As someone who grew up watching horror and thrillers, you'd think I'd be immune to gruesome scares, revolting corpses and creaking doors that already have a mind of their own. But it's the other way around. Even in my 20s, I'm still sensitive to horror movies and can't stop watching them. My addiction to horror movies might be because watching horror movies is something I've always done with my mom and later a witty oy setter. My mom and the lavolta bacteria of #039; it's horror and i grew up. hiding in the back watching horror movies While I agree with some people that this was a terrible parenting decision on his part, he decided to teach after every horror movie while we watched the slides and behind the scenes footage and he spent hours explaining. to six-year-old me, how everything was pretend, like a game. It was his way of helping me get over my childhood fear of ghosts and stuff, and to some extent it worked. That's not the best part though, my mom has great taste in horror and when she chose the horror movies she wanted to watch with her kids, she always looked for movies that were more than your typical cheesy story, but she chose movies that had deeper meaning. , movies that were both delightful and thought provoking.
.
1. THE EXORCISM
This is one of the scariest horror movies I have ever seen. Based on true events, a painful story about a young woman possessed by demons and the priest who saves her in vain. I love this movie because it avoids the typical gory beats and shock factors that are common in most horror movies and instead presents an engaging discussion about spirituality and mental health in the scariest way possible. The film opens with a lawyer trying to remotely defend a priest accused of murder and even trying to exorcise the demons of a young woman clinically diagnosed with depression and epilepsy.
2. The Orphanage
It's a heartbreaking, beautifully made horror film that creates tension and fear with very little gore, focusing on creepy haunted houses and disturbing midnight sounds. The Orphanage is a Spanish horror film from 2007 that cleverly combines real human horrors with the supernatural. .
3. OCULUS
On my top 10 horror movies of all time list is Oculus. It's a horror movie that's a bit predictable, but still manages to get under your skin (and scare mirrors long after you've seen it). Instead of relying on cheap jump scares, Oculus makes both the film's characters and the audience wonder if the paranormal activity they're witnessing is real or just a figment of their imagination. This film has three loves: the acting of the entire cast, the fast-paced plot and the exploration of the emotional trauma of children in dysfunctional families. The film takes place in both the past and the present, which simultaneously increases the horror by the minute and makes you wonder if the haunted subject is really guilty or if you are just witnessing the after-effects of the suffering of adults. traumatized, abusive and violent families
4. HAUNTING OF HILL HOUSE
If you haven't watched this Netflix hit, what are you doing with your life? Loosely based on Shirley Jackson's novel of the same name, The Haunting Of Hill House is a masterpiece of the gothic horror genre. In my opinion, this is one of the few times where the adaptation surpasses the book of Jackson's novel and #039;, it gave me chills and the Netflix miniseries made me both horrified and emotionally attached to all the characters. What I love about this show is that it's not just a horror show, it's basically a family drama that just uses horror as a lens to explore the mental illness that comes with grief and coping mechanisms for trauma. The details and symbolism in this series is what makes it so fascinating and worth revisiting. The five siblings reflect the stages of Grill's life and each of them tells real human stories about how people overcome trauma. Even if you don't enjoy horror, this is a series you will love and remember after you watch it.
5. The Haunting Of Bly Manor
Another masterpiece from the same creator of Oculus and The Haunting Of Hill House. It's one of the most hauntingly beautiful horror films out there, with more of an eerie, unsettling feel than a horror full of jump scares. Although not in the same universe and not a sequel to The Haunting of Hill House, the series stands alone as a slow, intriguing horror show that truly questions what it means to be haunted.
