  • Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal

Taj Mahal is located in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India, and it is spread over 17 hectares of area, having a height of 73m(240ft) and it was commissioned in 1632 by the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan to house the tomb of his favorite wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It also houses the tomb of Shah Jahan himself.

The taj mahal was designated as UNESCO'S  World Heritage site in 1983 for being "the jewel of Muslim art in India and one of the universally admired masterpieces of the world's heritage." Many regarded it as the best example of Mughal architecture and a symbol of India's rich history. The taj mahal attracts over 7.8 million visitors a year, and in 2007, it was declared a winner of the New 7 wonders of the world(2000-2007) .

 

  • Golden Temple

Golden Temple is located in Amritsar, Punjab,  India. The gurudwara is built around a samovar completed by the fourth Sikh Guru, Guru Ramdas, in 1577. The temple is a two-storeyed structure with its top half covered in almost 400 kg pure gold leaf.

The gurudwara was repeatedly rebuilt by the Sikhs after it became a target of persecution and was destroyed several times by the Mughal and invading Afghan armies. After founding the Sikh Empire, Maharaja Ranjit Singh rebuilt it in marble and copper in 1809 and overlaid the sanctum with Goldfoil in 1980. This has led to the name Golden Temple.

Over 1,00,000 people visit the holy shrine daily for worship. The Gurudwara temple has been nominated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, and its application is pending on the tentative list of UNESCO.

 

  • Red Fort

Red Fort or Lal Qila is a historic fort of India in the city of New Delhi. Emperor Shah Jahan commissioned the construction of the Red Fort on 12th May 1638, when he decided to shift his capital from Agra to Delhi.

  • Hawa Mahal.

Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal is located in Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. It was built by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, the grandson of Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh, in 1799. Lal Chand Usta was the architect of Hawa Mahal. It is built in red and pink colored sandstone.

The stone-carved screens, small casements, and arched roofs are some of the features of this popular Hawa Mahal. The palace is an extended part of the huge complex. It is referred to as "The Palace of Winds" or "The Palace of Breeze." 

The entry to the Hawa Mahal is through an imperial door. It opens into a large Courtyard, which has double-storeyed buildings on three sides, with the Hawa Mahal enclosing it on the east side. 

 

  • Qutub Minar.

Qutub minar

Qutub Minar is a soaring, 73m high tower of victory, built-in 1193 by Qutak-Uddin-Aibak immediately after the defeat of Delhi's Last Hindu Kingdom. The tower has five distinct stories, each marked by a projecting balcony.

The surrounding archaeological area contains funerary buildings, notably the magnificent Alai-Darwaza gate, Indo-Muslim art masterpiece, two mosques, and some 20 Brahman temples.
