Foremost, congratulations! You're having a new baby! Now, on to the serious stuff. You are going to prepare yourself mentally, physically for your new baby, and you will need to adjust your home and car to the new baby too!
Mentally preparing for the new baby
Remember this, women adjust to having a new baby faster than men; So, don't expect husbands to become all fatherly after the pregnancy announcement.
They are not like that. Women adjust to the new baby better mentally, as they experience physical, emotional and psychological changes. These changes help them adjust quickly to the new baby. However, men begin to feel the new baby when they see the baby move or feel a flicker on the mother's belly.
Preparing physically for the new baby
There isn't much a new father can do to prepare for a new baby. What should a father do before conceiving a new baby? However, new fathers may try to quit smoking, drinking, and other addictions once they conceive a new baby. New mothers should do the same.
Planning for the new baby: House and car
With a new baby, depending on whether you plan to co-sleep with the baby or you plan to have the baby sleep in a separate room, this affects changes in your home.
Either way, we recommend having a separate room for your new baby, even if the new baby is going to sleep with the new parents for the first few months.
A baby cot, some toys, a place to keep all the baby's clothes, convenient-to-grab lotions, creams, diaper wipes, diapers, etc., are essential near the changing table.
You also need to think about getting a baby chair; Baby chair for home (at the right height for the dining table) and baby chair for the car (for travel).
Some children's chairs can be adjusted to fit an adult dining chair and fit in the car at the same time. They're a bit more expensive than traditional baby chairs, but the multi-function is super convenient, plus it's downright comfortable for your new baby.
Other essentials for your new baby
Frankly, what is required entirely depends on your own preference, budget and lifestyle. You can live without some of these things if you feel you don't want to waste the money.
If you've had kids before, you probably don't need a lot of new baby clothes. New babies tend to get out of date very fast with their clothes, and splurging on new clothes would be a waste of money.
If you want, you can also shake hands with nieces and nephews. You should probably get blankets, sweaters, coats, and outdoor clothing.
At home, your new baby doesn't mind old clothes. In fact, it is a fact that your new baby will probably prefer wearing old clothes than new ones.
Baby bowls, breast pumps (if you plan to pump breast milk for your new baby at work), baby bottles, cloth nappies, diapers, baby wipes, lotions, shampoo, bath gels, towels don't forget feeding utensils, baby blankets, baby bedding, bibs, strollers, etc.And don't worry, you'll be fine. The best thing to do is to get unbiased referrals from friends and family.
You all know how cute and wonderful the babies are, so don't worry, you will be a great parent for your babies....
