Of course, Korea is a pretty good and safe country, but that doesn't mean that bad things don't happen here, as, in most countries, murders, rapes, and incidents happen in Korea. And this law I“ll tell you about is:-
1.심신미약 (Shim-shin-Miyake)
, The law is supposed to protect mentally, physically people that cannot discriminate against wrong and good acts. For example:- You're super drunk that you end killing someone, this Korean law doesn't consider you fully responsible for your crime. If you are mentally/physically weak (or super drunk)and commit a crime, you are not fully responsible for it, so that the prison sentence will be drastically reduced. So instead of life imprisonment, you will get 10/15/20 years in prison. There are many cases where people misuse the law; people commit crimes under the influence of alcohol and got away with it by wrongfully using this law that protects mentally ill people. People get drunk, do serious crimes out of revenge and still get away with it. And then, in the court, they get punished with a lesser jail sentence.
Korean Superstitions
2.Dont write names with red ink
In Korea, you should not write your name or anyone's name with red ink. Koreans think that the person will die soon. These Superstitions are one of the origins is from the Korean war. During the Korean war(25 July 1950), whenever the soldier died during the fight. The letter is written in red ink and was sent to their family to inform them about the loss death of their loved ones in the war. So still now many Korean think it is a bad thing.
3.Dont buy shoes for people you love
If you give shoes to someone in Korea, that person will run away from you, and you will lose them forever.
4.Pimple on your forehead
If you get a pimple on your forehead, it means someone has a crush on you. If you have one pimple on your forehead, it means a guy/girl loves you. If there are 2 pimples, then 2 people have a crush on you.
5.Number 4 is unlucky
Number 4 is considered unlucky in Korea. It is called “Deadly 4".4 in Korea is “a," which sounds similar to “died" or “deceased," that why people consider this number unlucky.
6.Fans can kill you
Death from sleeping with an active fan in a closed room may seem like the stuff of fiction, but it’s no joke in South Korea. Seonpoonggi samangseol (“fan death”) is believed to be an actual cause, not just superstition.
7.Taffy makes it stick
It’s not uncommon to see well-wishers distributing yet to students as they enter exam centers to take the Suneung, South Korea’s College Scholastic Ability Test. It’s no surprise that education-obsessed Korea has plenty of superstitions surrounding test-taking. One of them states that eating sticky foods, such as toffee and yet (traditional Korean taffy) will help the knowledge obtained from studying ‘stick’ in the student’s mind. The superstition also states that eating slippery food like seaweed soup has the opposite effect and will cause a student to ‘slip’ down the exam result ratings.
8.New Years Day
It is auspicious to go outside at the dawn of New Year's Day and hear the sound of a magpie, and it is ominous to hear the sound of a crow.
