5.Acute lower respiratory infections in children
Pneumonia (infection of the lung alveoli) and airways infections, such as acute bronchitis and bronchiolitis, influenza, and whooping cough, are examples of acute lower respiratory infections. They are a leading source of sickness and death in both children and adults worldwide.
Infections of the lungs or below the voice box are known as lower respiratory tract infections. Pneumonia, bronchitis, and tuberculosis are among them. Infections in the lower respiratory tract can affect the airways, as in bronchitis, or the air sacs at the end of the airways, as in pneumonia.
One of the most prevalent ailments in children is the common cold (upper respiratory infection). It results in more doctor visits and missed school and workdays per year than any other sickness.
