The Salt and Ice Challenge

Two eastern Iowa kids are recovering from severe burns after trying a viral online trend. It's called the "salt and ice challenge." Participants put table salt on exposed skin, add an ice cube, and then hold it there as long as they can tolerate the pain. ... The two may need skin grafts to repair the damage.
When added to ice, salt first dissolves in the film of liquid water that is always present on the surface, thereby lowering its freezing point below the temperature of the ice. Ice in contact with salty water, therefore, melts, creating more liquid water, which dissolves more salt, thereby causing more ice to melt, and so on.

Blue Whale

"Blue Whale," also known as the "Blue Whale Challenge," is a social network phenomenon dating from 2016 claimed to exist in several countries.
In a game spread over 50 days, the Blue Whale Challenge instructs the participant to complete 50 tasks, including self-harm, watching scary videos, waking at odds hours, etc. As the game progresses with each task, the participant reaches the final day that culminates into suicide. The person must prove that they have completed the tasks by sending proof – such as pictures – to their ‘curator’ or the ‘whale,’ the one who had been instructing them all this while.
In June 2017, a 21-year-old Russian Philipp Budeikin was arrested for allegedly being the mastermind behind the game. He has been charged with incitement to the suicide of at least 16 schoolgirls.
