1. Ford F-Series
Ford provides the 2021 F-150 with no fewer than six powertrains—including a hybrid for the first time—plus three cab configurations and both long and short bed lengths. Need something to impress the in-laws? Upscale models offer more than just a touch of luxury. Towing something heavy? We expect some of these half-ton trucks will boast a maximum towing capacity of up to 14,000 pounds. An off-road-focused Tremor model is also available, and doesn't forget the bad-boy F-150 Raptor (reviewed separately), Ford's performance powerhouse. It sold 534,831 units.
2. Toyota RAV4
From spartan to sophisticated to outdoor, the 2021 Toyota RAV4 offers something for just about everyone, earning it an Editors' Choice Award. The entry-level LE covers the budget end of the spectrum, while the well-equipped Limited and TRD Off-Road models offer impressive features aimed at two very different types of buyers. Regardless of which equipment you choose, the RAV4 comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, but all-wheel drive is optional on
LE, XLE, XLE Premium and Limited trims and standard on Adventure and TRD Off-Road trim. The 4Runner SUV and Tacoma pickup inspire the RAV4's angular lookp, but its car-based construction offers a quieter ride than either of these trucks. The interiors are spacious, and the materials chosen are durable, but those looking for modern comfort features like power seats, push-button start, etc. It sold 313,447 units.
3. Honda CR-V
A completely new generation of the Honda CRV is in the works, as we can see from the spy photos of the redesigned SUV that was tested in Germany. The camouflaged test vehicle features a cleaner, more modern-looking grille design, black wheels, and new front and rear lighting elements. The 2023 CRV is expected to be offered with gasoline and hybrid engines, but we also think an electric version could be included in the mix, possibly for a debut after the upcoming 2024 Prologue SUV electric vehicle hits the market. Proportionally, the future CRV seems to get a bit elongated, which could also mean that Honda plans to move an optional third-row inside to better compete with the Mitsubishi Outlander and Volkswagen Tiguan. It sold 290,140 units

4. Honda Civic
Once a simple form of transportation, the humble Honda Civic has grown into an attractive compact car that is easy to drive. The Civic is available as a sedan or as a practical hatchback and is powered by a 158-hp 2.0-liter four-cylinder or a turbocharged 1.5-liter with up to 180 hp. Honda equips your smaller car with many standard driver assistance features, including adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning.
Interestingly, modern infotainment functions are not standard; The LX base has a small touch screen that offers radio tuning and not much else. Regardless of the base model, the Civic is a compact car that should satisfy most buyers and one of the reasons it earned a spot on our Editors' Choice list. If you're looking for something with a spicier flavor, we recommend the 205-hp Civic Si or the 306-hp Civic Type R (both tested separately). It sold 216,575 units.
5. Hyundai Elantra
Hyundai's compact car doesn't sell as well as its stable crossover companion, the Tucson. But it still rose 41 percent during the first three quarters of this year, earning a spot on that list. It sold 106,106 units
