The memory can also be expanded via microSD by up to 512GB, which is pretty impressive for the phone at this cost. When it comes to battery, the Samsung Galaxy M01 Core comes with a dependable 3,000mAh battery. The phone features an 8-megapixel main camera and a 5-megapixel selfie shooter. The M01 Core is a pretty lightweight device, weighing merely 150g. The Xiaomi Redmi Go is an entry-level smartphone with basic specs and a stripped down version of Android - the Android Go OS. The phone can often be found under the 5K price point on the Mi website and other e-commerce sites. The phone sports a 5-inch display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and 720 x 1080 resolution, which is pretty good for the price point. The phone is also lightweight, weighing merely 137g. Powering the Redmi Go is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 SoC. The phone is certainly no gaming phone, but then again, it would be unwise to expect that at under 5K. You get a paltry 8GB of internal storage and 1GB RAM. Multitasking could be a bit of an issue with a GB of RAM but if you just use your phone for basic tasks, you should be fine since the optimised Android Go UI doesn’t demand a lot of power. There’s support to expand the storage via microSD card as well, which is good since 8GB of internal storage fills up pretty quickly. The phone has a single 8-megapixel rear sensor with autofocus. The selfie camera is a 5-megapixel one. Video recording tops out at 1080p for both lenses. Overall, it’s a decent entry-level smartphone for light users. The Smartphone is available in two colour options - Black and Blue. It provides a host of connectivity options including 3G, 4G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth capabilities.

The Gionee F8 Neo is a budget smartphone with an octa-core SoC. Priced just over 5K, the Gionee F8 Neo is a pretty good entry-level smartphone that also comes with a bunch of features that are rare at this price point including Face Unlock, Beauty Mode, built-in fingerprint sensor and even Night Mode! The phone features a 5.45-inch HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, there’s an octa-core Unisoc SC9863 SoC paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of onboard storage. You can bump up the storage by 256GB via microSD card. 2GB RAM is pretty hard to come by at this price range, so the Gionee F8 Neo proves to be a pretty value for money device for providing that, and other lucrative features. The phone packs a 3,000mAh battery, which is pretty standard at this price. It also supports wired reverse charging, so you can use it as a battery pack to charge other devices. The back panel of the smartphone features a gem-cut finish. The phone comes with a single 8MP rear lens and a 5MP selfie shooter. The phone is available in three colours including Lively Blue, Bold Black and Dynamic Red.

The Lava Z1 was launched in 2021 as the first 100 percent indigenous phone designed by Indian engineers. The phone is available at Rs 5,199 on Amazon and the Lava website at the time of writing. It is an entry-level device, although Lava claims the smartphone is extremely rugged and is Military Grade-certified for toughness. The Z1 comes with a 5-inch display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It has a resolution of 480 x 854, which is slightly underwhelming since we’ve seen some phones under 5K sport an HD+ display. Under the hood, there’s the MediaTek Helio A20 quad-core processor with 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The phone is powered by a 3,100mAh battery. Both the back and the front have 5-megapixel cameras. Video recording tops out at 720p for both cameras. The back also features an LED flash for photographs. The device runs the Android 10 OS (Go Edition). The phone also comes equipped with a 5-magnet speaker that allegedly outputs loud audio. The Lava Z1 is available in Blue and Red colour variants. The bezels on the device are pretty thick for 2021 and even in comparison to other phones in this price range, but it is a dependable device, for the most part, and an indigeneous entry-level phone.

The I Kall K201 is an entry-level smartphone that separates itself from the competition due to its large display size that makes it look like a much more expensive smartphone than it actually is. Where most other budget phones feature a display that’s 5.5-inches or smaller at this price point, the I Kall K201 features a massive 6.26-inch display, which could make it a good budget phone for content consumption. The phone is ‘Made in India’ and it comes with a 1 year warranty for the device. The phone is powered by a 1.3GHz SC9832A quad-core processor paired with 2GB RAM and 16GB internal memory with further expansion via microSD card. The phone, unfortunately, runs on the dated Android 6.0 OS. It features an 8MP primary rear lens and a 5MP selfie camera. The camera also supports HDR imaging. The phone is only available in Black colour and can hold dual SIMs. The phone houses a 3,000mAh battery. Overall, it’s primary attraction is the large display size, however, do note that the OS is quite dated for 2021.
