Coconut oil, argan oil, olive oil ... the list of healthy oils for your hair continues, but what exactly does this oil do, and what is the difference? It is easy to become confused about which hair oils are best for your specific needs with so much detail.
Read on to learn about our 5 hair oils that are used and used to combat dryness, itching, or dandruff.
1. Coconut oil
Coconut Hair Oil
Coconut oil is excellent for the sacred oil of hair oil. It acts as a heat shield, repairs damaged and broken hair, helps prevent hair loss and aids in hair growth. Due to its moisture retention properties, coconut oil stays inside the hair instead of evaporating, making it one of the most effective hair treatments.
As Coconut Oil is loaded with fatty acids, it penetrates deep into the hair, much deeper than regular conditioners, resulting in beautifully soft, silky, shiny hair - who doesn’t want that?
Note, we recommend using organic, beauty grade Coconut Oil where it is possible to get the best results for your hair.
How to use
If your scalp is often oily, apply Coconut Oil to your hair without roots. If your scalp is dry, use a reminder. Since Coconut Oil is solid at room temperature, we recommend warming it and melting it slightly, which will make it much easier to use. Leave it on your hair for 30 minutes to an hour (or even longer) and wash with a natural, living shampoo. Repeat once a week.
2. Argan oil
Argan oil, also known as Moroccan oil, is extracted from the nuts of the Argan tree found in Morocco and will do wonders for your hair. Argan oil is jam-packed with beneficial ingredients such as vitamin E, ferulic acid, and fatty acids, as well as antioxidants, anti-UV rays, and damage to hair cells. Just a few drops of argan oil will not only protect your hair from the heat but will also nourish and moisturize, reduce thirst, and spray. No wonder they call this oil "liquid gold!" Argan oil is not as oily as Coconut Oil, so it is perfect for frequent use.
How to use:
Apply a few drops to the palm of your hand, rub your hands together, and spread evenly on your wet or dry hair, avoiding the roots. Apply daily for best results.
3. Castor Oil
Castor oil is derived from castor beans and is good for hair growth, as it has important properties such as vitamin E, minerals, and protein. Castor oil also contains antioxidants, which support the keratin in the hair, making it stronger, smoother, and healthier. If you find this oil, we recommend that you pressurize the cold (meaning there was no heat involved during the extraction process) 100% pure virgin castor oil. It offers other great benefits such as controlling hair loss, combating skin and fungal infections (due to its anti-fungal properties), conditioning and moisturizing the hair and preventing split ends.
How to use:
Castor oil is very consistently thick, so it is always best to mix a few drops with an oil carrier (such as olive oil or Coconut Oil, for ease of use. Use this mixture as a scalp, apply a shower cap and leave to clean overnight; if may Wash and wash as usual in the morning and repeat every week or as needed. It can also be used as a hot medicine.
4. Jojoba oil
Before anything else, let's find out how we can call this: ho-ho-ba. This oil is extracted from the jojoba plant and is amazing because its chemical composition is similar to the oil naturally produced by our scalps (sebum). Jojoba oil, like coconut oil, soothes hair on the inside, softens it, and holds hair strands inside. This means that your scalp will likely be easily absorbed without showing any side effects. It also cures dandruff and dry scalp problems and adds light and softness.
How to use:
You can use jojoba oil as a treatment for acne. Apply on your head before washing your hair and leave for 30 minutes or overnight. To get the scent, you can add a drop of your favorite essential oils (such as lavender or eucalyptus).
Alternatively, you can add a few drops of jojoba oil to your conditioner or apply a little on your edges after washing.
5. Olive Oil
We hear this all the time, not only when cooking but also when talking about natural beauty products. Olive oil has a rich, amazingly soft texture for your hair. It inserts your hair shaft, acts as a heat shield, and hides damaged hair strands, giving it a beautiful look. Olive oil will leave them looking strong, healthy, and shiny.
How to use:
Once a week, apply 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil to dry or comb your hair, moving it evenly and carefully. Fold in a towel or cap and leave for about half an hour. Rinse with cold water, and feel free to skip the fixer.
There is a lot of fat, which one should I buy?
We know that choosing the right oil for your hair can be stressful, as there are so many different choices. Here are some personal tips on choosing the perfect hair oil for your hair type:
Castor Oil for Hair
Always read the list of ingredients.
Some labels can be deceptive, so it’s important to make sure there are no chemicals, and all the ingredients are natural (and probably natural).
Know what is in it
Some oils come pre-mixed with other oils, such as essential oils. Make sure you read the label and know exactly what is included.
Listen to your hair
Being highly recommended or advertised does not mean that it is the right product for your hairstyle. We are all different, and what works for one person may not work for another. Be sure to try the oil, and if you feel it doesn’t work for you, don’t be afraid to move on to something else.
Lastly, remember that oil is oily. Do not use too much; otherwise, you risk leaving your hair oily even after washing. Wash your hair regularly with a natural, alcohol-free shampoo after treatments. And of course, keep in mind that changes like this don't happen overnight. Only consistent, long-term use will result in gorgeous, healthy, shiny long hair - but trust us, it's so worth it.
