Top 4 Digital advertising tips for startups.

More than half a million startups are founded every year in the UK alone. That's more than 1,200 new businesses being created every day.

Most startups these days integrate digital advertising and marketing from the start. There are plenty of strategies you can undertake or outsource to grow your new business.

Here are some tips to get you started:

1) Google Ads.

Have you ever seen a product image at the top of Google results, or even just ads above organic results? If you've ever done a search on the world's largest search engine, then the answer to that question is yes.

Behind this is the Google Ads paid advertising system. The same system is also responsible for the ads you see throughout your stay on YouTube. Do you want your products to appear on one of them? Or perhaps a banner across a selection of millions of websites?

The system can be difficult to use and expensive if you have no experience using it. It pays to hire a digital advertising agency to help you promote your product. The good thing is that your ads can be launched almost immediately, you can make ad profit from day one.

2) Social media.

Social networks continue to expand at a rapid pace. These days, Facebook alone made more than $80 billion in advertising revenue in 2020.

Want your product to be seen by 2.7 billion active users? Maybe not all, but with Facebook Business Manager you can serve ads (banners and/or videos) to your target audience based on several demographics, including location, age, gender, and interests. This allows you or the agency running your campaigns to target only those most likely to be interested in what your startup has to offer.

The Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB UK) has created guides to help many start-ups and businesses choose their audience.

3) Optimization for search engines.

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) has grown at a rapid pace over the last decade or so. As more people gain access to the internet and its popularity continues to increase, it has become more important for your business website to show up in Google results.

At first, it can seem intimidating to think about how your new start-up website is ranking first on Google for your keywords. But depending on your industry and surrounding  businesses, ranking in local results can be much faster and easier than you imagine. It means that in the early days of your creation, you can pick local sales.

A Google My Business page is free to create and relatively easy to set up. This will allow you to appear on Google Maps and in local results, especially when your potential customers are in the area and are looking for what you have to offer via their phone.

4) Affiliate marketing.

Affiliate marketing asks influencers in your industry to promote your product or service for you and pay them a commission on the sale.

This makes it a win-win. Influencers can have access to your potential customers, to whom they can promote your product in exchange for a share of the profits. You can register your business on sites like A win and ClickBank so that their members can sign up and start promoting your service. This is the easiest way to negotiate deals and commissions, although you don't want to rule out contacting big blogs and social media.
