Top 3 recipes for smoothies high in vitamin C

For strong immunity, good mood, and healthy hair and skin. While lockdown certainly has its drawbacks, we recommend that you treat it as a rare opportunity to devote time to yourself and your health.

In such troubled and turbulent times, taking care of health is especially important, and vitamin smoothies are a simple and tasty way to strengthen the immune system and recharge with useful vitamins and minerals, which are even more necessary for the body in the fall when it is most susceptible to vitamin deficiency.

Vitamin C, one of the most important and necessary elements for the body, will help to save the body from the ubiquitous viruses, infections, and common cold, and in general, to keep the body in good shape and recharge with energy ( you can read more about some of its beneficial properties here ).

Therefore, we decided to collect for you five recipes for simple and tasty smoothies with a high content of vitamin C - these fruit cocktails will help you combine business with pleasure and replenish the lack of vitamins in the body.

Pumpkin smoothie:

Pumpkin is one of the main autumn vegetables and a real storehouse of vitamins, including vitamins A, C, E, D, PP, K, B, and T. In addition, pumpkin is rich in such useful minerals as fluorine, magnesium, copper, calcium, zinc, manganese, phosphorus and iodine.

  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • Half banana
  • A glass of almond or coconut milk
  • A teaspoon of cinnamon
  • A teaspoon of honey

Orange and mango smoothie:

Orange is one of the main sources of vitamin C, but its beneficial properties do not end there. The orange also contains vitamins A, B1, B2, PP, fiber, and other useful microelements. And in combination with mango and carrots, this refreshing drink will bring not only pleasure but also exceptional benefits to the body.

  • Half a glass of orange juice
  • Mango puree
  • Carrot
  • A teaspoon of honey
  • Detox smoothie with grapefruit and ginger

Another champion in the amount of vitamin C in the composition, of course, is grapefruit. And this miraculous drink will not only fill your body with vitamins but also promote weight loss. If desired, you can also add chia or flax seeds to it.

Grapefruit:

  • Ginger root approximately 2 cm long
  • 100 grams of pineapple
  • Apple
  • 50 grams of cucumbers.

Vitamin C is one of the safest and most effective ingredients, experts say. While it may not be the cure for the common cold, the benefits of vitamin C may include protection against immune system deficiency, cardiovascular disease, prenatal health problems, eye disease, and even wrinkles. The maximum tolerable dose of food (or the maximum amount you can take per day that may not cause harm) is 2000 mg per day for adults.

A recent study published in Seminars in Preventive and Alternative Medicine looking at more than 100 studies over a 10-year period revealed a growing list of potential benefits of vitamin C.

"Vitamin C has received a lot of attention, and for good reason. High levels of vitamin C in the blood may be a marker of a healthy lifelong diet," said study researcher Mark Moyad, MD, MPH, of the University of Michigan. "The more we learn about vitamin C, the better we understand how it differs from protecting our health, from cardiovascular, cancer, stroke, eye health [and] immunizations so that we can live longer."

"But," notes Moyad, "the right amount may be higher than the recommended food allowance."

How Much Vitamin C Is Enough?

Most of the studies conducted by Moyad and colleagues used 500 milligrams of vitamin C daily for health outcomes. That is much higher than the RDA of 75-90 milligrams per day for adults. So unless you can eat a lot of fruits and vegetables, you may need to take a vitamin C supplement to get all the benefits, says Moyad. He recommends taking 500 milligrams a day, in addition to eating five servings of fruits and vegetables.

"It does not work for most people to eat the required fruits and vegetables regularly while taking a supplement once a day is safe, effective, and easy to do," Moyad said. He also notes that only 10% to 20% of adults receive the recommended nine services of fruits and vegetables daily.
