Samsung has been doing well in its A-series, and recently, it introduced a new variant named Samsung Galaxy A22. It is the first phone in this series to have 5g connectivity. This is a mid-range device that will cost you around Rs19,999. Galaxy A22 gives good competition to rivals like Poco, Xiaomi, Realme in the same segment. Loaded with some latest features, let's have a quick review.
1.Display and appearance.
The Galaxy A22 may seem similar to the M series. It has a polycarbonate body construction which provides a rigid and firm build. The matte finish gives smooth and fingerprint-free handling. I personally like the polished frame and rounded edges. The device weight looks ok. It comes with a square camera panel on the back and has an in-build fingerprint sensor on the power button. On the bottom, it has a 3.5mm headphone jack and a USB type C port.
Talking about the display, the Galaxy A22 has a waterdrop notch which the company calls Infinity-V display. It has a 90 Hz refresh rate that works well. Galaxy A22 comes with an AMOLED panel with WideVine L1 certification, allowing better HD viewing of content on the OTT platform.
2.Better camera experience.
In-camera department, Samsung Galaxy A22 comes with a 48MP primary camera along with 5MP ultra-wide camera and a 2MP macro sensor. Samsung generally gives a good camera experience, and this device is no different. The picture quality is nice, and the sensors work well.
The strong point of this device is its "daylight photography," as it delivers detailed shots with high dynamic range. I like the contrast ratio as well.
In terms of low light, the phone's Night Mode runs well but lacks detail. If you are not used to taking low-light pictures, this device is definitely for you.
3. Software and performance.
The Samsung Galaxy A22 scores 309,012 on Antutu. As stated earlier, this is a mid-budget device. Its Density 700 chipset is capable of doing high-performance tasks with good efficiency. That's why it works well with medium tasks.
If you are a heavy gamer, you certainly need to look at it. The Galaxy A22 processor runs smoothly on moderate gaming. It is difficult to run heavy games with high graphics as you may notice slight lags.
The 4g connectivity on the device lights up to the expectations. The voice calling and data connections works well with zero call dropping. So, for daily moderate activities, Samsung Galaxy A22 is a phone you look for.
Talking about the software, Samsung Galaxy A22 uses its custom skin called One UI 3.1, based on Android 11. Customisation options and the interface looks simple. The 5,000mAh battery ensures a longer working duration of the device. The device will certainly last for an entire day with moderate usage. However, it takes approximately 2hrs to completely charge up the battery which is acceptable.
As mentioned earlier, Samsung Galaxy A22 is a mid-range device, and the competition in this segment is too high. Brands like Poco, Realme, Oneplus give Samsung tough competition in this segment. To conclude this review, I have to say that Samsung Galaxy A22 5g is a decent device in this segment with good performance.
