          Debate on white or black

When I was in primary school, I had a big argument with a boy in my class.  I have forgotten what the discussion was about, but I have never forgotten the lesson I learned that day.

I was convinced that "I" was right and "he" was wrong - and he was just as convinced that "I" was wrong and "he" was right.  The teacher decided to teach us a very important lesson.

She brought us to the front of the class and seated her on one side of her desk and me on the other.  In the middle of his desk was a large, round object.  I could clearly see that it was black.  He asked the boy what is the color of this thing.  "White," he replied.

I couldn't believe he said the thing was white, when it was clearly black!  Another debate ensued between me and my classmates, this time about the color of the object.

The teacher asked me to stand where the boy was standing and asked him to come to where I was standing.  We switched places, and now he asked me what color that thing was.  I had to answer, "White."

It was something that had two different colors, and from his perspective it was white.  Only by me, it was black.

Sometimes we need to see the issue from the other person's perspective to truly understand their perspective.

                Believe on yourself

There may be days when you wake up in the morning and things are not as you had hoped.

Only then do you have to tell yourself that things will get better.  There are times when people let you down and let you down.

But these are the times when you must remind yourself to trust your own judgments and opinions, to focus your life on believing in yourself.

There will be challenges and changes in your life, and it is up to you to accept them.

Keep yourself constantly moving in the right direction for you.  It may not be easy at times, but these times of struggle will give you a stronger sense of who you are.

So when the days come that are filled with frustration and unexpected responsibilities, remember to believe in yourself and all the people in your life.

Because challenges and changes will only help you find the goals you know you have to accomplish.

             Stop being a glass

       Terrible, spat the apprentice.

The Master laughed and then asked the young man to take another handful of salt and throw it into the lake.

They both went to a nearby lake in silence, and when he threw his handful of salt into the lake,

The old man said, "Now drink from the lake."

When water started dripping from the young man's chin, the Master asked how does it taste?  "Good!"  The apprentice commented.  "Do you taste salt?"  asked the master.  "No," said the young man.  Master Sahib sat next to the troubled youth and held his hand and said, "The pain of life is pure salt, no more, no less, the amount of pain in life remains the same, but in the amount we taste the 'pain'."  It depends on the container in which we put it.

So when you're in pain, the only thing you can do is increase the sensation of things.

Stop being a glass, become a lake!
