Over the years we have seen multiple manufacturers attempting to capture this segment by offering better cameras, faster processors, and better batteries. In order to be the best in this segment, manufacturers have flooded the sub-Rs. 15,000 price segments with a range of good smartphones. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 which was earlier exclusive to smartphones above Rs. 20,000 is now available under Rs. 15,000. You can also find mightier processors like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 675, and MediaTek Helios P70 at this price point, giving users powerful hardware at a bargain price. Good camera technology has also trickled down to the sub Rs. 15,000 segments over the years giving people the option to capture good photos without paying a bomb for flagship devices. Some of the recent smartphones we have seen in this price point pack in as much as a 48-megapixel sensor. With so many options in the market, picking up a smartphone isn’t easy. Motorola
The Motorola G51 is Motorola’s budget 5G smartphone and is the second 5G smartphone in the G series after Moto G 5G. Motorola’s budget 5G smartphone may have arrived quite late in 2021, but it has a few things going for it that make it special.
It has an unibody design that’s made of polycarbonate and is quite heavy at 208g, but it also comes with an IP52 rating against dust and water, which the competition does not offer.
Software performance is smooth and fluid and most of this is down to the choice of near-stock Android software, with a few Motorola-specific customizations. The 120Hz high refresh rate display also plays a part in making the software experience appear quite fluid.
Gaming performance is a bit disappointing, and this is an area where the competition performs better. There are three rear-facing cameras, and they do a decent job with daylight photos but perform poorly in low light.
Battery life is quite good and lasts about a day and half with regular use. The phone comes with a 20W charger in the box, which takes about two hours to charge the smartphone to 100 percent.
Motorola G31
The Motorola G31 tries to fill the shoes with its predecessor the Motorola G30 but falls a bit short of expectations. This budget Motorola has a MediaTek Helios G85 processor, an AMOLED display, and IPX2 rating for dust and water resistance.
Its unibody design looks quite like that of the Motorola G30, and it is made of polycarbonate but does not feel cheap. The new AMOLED display is a vast improvement over the LCD panel on the G30 but features a standard 60Hz screen refresh rate.
There’s a near-stock version of Android 11 along with the usual Motorola gestures. Performance is average for a budget smartphone in this price segment, and there are phones that are priced similarly but offer better hardware.
Battery life is good, and this phone can last a day and half on a single charge. Daylight photos taken with the primary camera came out fine, but the ultra-wide one performed poorly. Low-light imaging was quite disappointing overall
