14. Once Upon a Time in America
A masterpiece of cinema, directed by Sergio Leone, starring Robert De Niro, An Italian-American movie which takes us back and forth between the very beginning and middle of the 20th century United States.
This is not just a regular mob movie; this movie has some fantastic acting and strong characters. Sergio Leone wasn't holding back on his characters; he enhanced his leading character's negative side. Although some might find this movie a bit boring because it is a long' ish movie, this is a criminally underrated cinematic masterpiece.
13. No Country For Old Men
Who doesn't like a bit of thriller and crime together? No Country For Old Men is a Western crime thriller film written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen.
The story is about a hunter whose life takes a drastic turn when he finds two million dollars and is pursued by a psychopathic killer who wants the money. Brilliant acting, the trio of main characters add immense suspense into even the most simple scenes, the acting never feels flat and is excellent throughout. Virtually flawless on just about every level.
12. There Will be Blood

what will greed & hunger do to a man for success & money? This movie drills deep into the lust of their desires; beautiful cinematography, the film's color, sand, teal, caramel, follow throughout as a delicious backdrop for various characters? Amazing to watch and to compel from beginning to end
11. Fight Club
This movie exceeded every single expectation. This movie is about a psychotic insomniac who has no peace in his life and looking for his sleep by crying himself out. On his flight, he meets Tyler Dursun, a soap salesman who lives his life to the fullest. The story develops when the protagonist and Tyler forming an underground fight club. It is a must-watch. Even after 20 years of release, the plot still offers raw insights. You cannot talk about this movie (you will understand this after watching the movie). 
10. Taxi Driver
Robert De Niro makes another appearance on this list. Directed by Martin Scorsese, the Taxi driver is a movie that is a dark thriller. (Wikipedia)
Some say it is the best work from Scorsese. In the movie, De Niro plays Tyler, an ex-marine and Vietnam veteran, drives a Taxi around New York City. The whole movie was just about this Taxi Driver. The character development of Travis is simply terrific. The movie is recommended for everyone because of its simplicity. The screenplay of Paul Schrader is the one that keeps you involved throughout the journey of the protagonist.
9. Interstellar
Interstellar is a sci/fi movie directed by Christopher Nolan, starring Matthew McConaughey. In the future, when the earth becomes uninhabitable, A farmer named Cooper, who was an ex-Nasa pilot, asked to find a new planet for humans along with a team of researchers. (Wikipedia)
The story was very well-written and is realistic without sacrificing the evocative and awe-inspiring nature of the best space/time travel movies. You have to pay attention to every little thing that happens in this film to really understand the plot, straight from the get-go. Even as it ends on a hopeful note, there is an underlying sadness throughout the movie.
8. Django Unchained
Tarantino's fiercely grossing action flick on blaxploitation is a cheer inviting cake of blood highlighting the age-old conflict-ridden relationship between the 2 sides of a chess game- the 'Whites' and 'Blacks' as they are called. The story is about Django, a slave who joined a bounty hunter to save his wife.
The cinematography is also top-notch. The only minor quibble I have with the film is its length. The film stretches for almost 3 hours. But if you ask me, not a single scene is wasted. Quentin Tarantino directs an electrifying film, which is certainly one of the best.
7. Goodfellas
Guess who is making on the list again? It's Robert De Niro. If you're looking for a good gangster movie, Goodfellas shall be top of your list. The story is about Henry Hill, with his friends Tommy who are played by Joe Pesci, and Jimmy, who is played by De Niro, begins the climb from being an ordinary criminal to a gangster on the mean street of New York. Scorsese's directorial masterpiece stands out in all areas, including visual, auditory, and narrative excellence.how this movie is narrated leaves the audience with a sense of fulfillment, having watched 2 and a half hours of this narrative masterpiece.
6. The Shawshank Redemption
To this day, The Shawshank Redemption is the highest rated movie on IMDB, rating 9.2 out of 10. (IMDB)
The story is about Andy Dufresne, a successful banker, arrested for his wife and her lover's killings and sentenced to life imprisonment at the Shawshank prison. This great movie is absolutely an everlasting gem of world cinema. Different journeys within a journey, unexpected twist and turns from the very beginning till the end, hats off to the performances, writing and unexpectedly brilliant Direction, making "The Shawshank Redemption" a trendsetter.
5. The Dark Knight
Another Christopher Nolan Masterpiece, The dark knight, is arguably the best superhero film to this day. Undoubtedly the best in its genre, the kind of greatness no modern DC and definitely no Marvel movie could ever hope to achieve. Everything in this movie works especially heath Ledgers' performance as the joker. Christian Bale is excellent as Batman, and Aaron Eckhart is fantastic as Harvey dent. (The NY times)
The casting is perfect, and the screenplay as well as direction by Nolan bordering on the extraordinary. Overall the movie promises to keep you logged on without a blink and definitely one of Nolan’s greatest gifts. 
4. Schindler's List
Few films are more powerful and important than this 1993 winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture. (Wikipedia).
The story is about Oskar Schindler, a German industrialist and member of the Nazi party who tries to save Jewish employees. Director Steven Spielberg wanted to make the film more like a biography. It is an emotionally strong and thought-provoking movie that will leave anyone who sees it spellbound. Simply put, it's a timeless masterpiece from the true greats of the film industry.
3. Inception
One of the best films of the entire century. A mind-blowing suspense thriller of Christopher Nolan in non-linear and hyperlink storytelling. (IMDB)
The cast of Leonardo DiCaprio as Cobb was phenomenal, and direction, cinematography, dazzling VFX, and CGI was also incredible. I’m not a fan of rewatching movies, but if there was ever a movie against that argument, it’s Inception. The entire production is superbly crafted. It is flat out visually sensational. All of the actors involved deliver superlative performances. 10 Years on and Inception is still as crisp and engaging. 
2. Pulp Fiction
Pulp Fiction delivers an array of aesthetically pleasing shots and beautiful cinematography, incredibly thought-provoking lines, and just the right amount of violence. As expected, Tarantino never fails to impress. For newer viewers of Tarantino's films, a few people may find it hard to follow at first because this film is something that you probably haven't seen or experienced before. Still, the film is practically all about the roles played by different characters and what defines their personality. From the Story of two hit-man on a job to a fixed boxing match to date between a hit-man and a mob boss's wife. There was definitely a lot of care into the script's writing, like everything, no matter the order it is in, fits with the story. 
1. The Godfather
One way to say it is the greatest movie of all time. Winner of 3 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Adapted Screenplay, The Godfather is one of the most revered movies of all time and its contribution to cinema is remarkable. The story is the portrayal of the fall from grace of Michael Corleone. Michael is a tragic hero. Caught between an innocent outside world and the criminal underground of his family, he makes decisions we would've made as well. Marlon Brando, the rebellious prodigy, who electrified a generation and forever transformed the art of screen acting. You can't miss this movie—a Masterpiece.
