2.Weight of lions:

According to WWF, the average weight of male lions is about 190kg, and the average weight of female lions is 126 kg.

3.Mane or Beard of a lion:

Lions have a long beard that approximately grows to 16 cm long. Their majestic mane protects them from head and neck injuries during their fights. They are also a sign of dominance. In Massachusetts Bay in the year 1870, the largest mane of a lion was recorded. According to BBC, this mane was approximately 7 ft in diameter, and the tentacles were 120 ft long.

4. Largest lion ever lived:

The largest lion ever lived was recorded in captivity at Dublin Zoo of Ireland in the year 1959. The lion was approximately 10ft long. The weight of the lion was about 375kg. This was the massive lion ever seen.

7. Big bite:

The bite force of a lion has an average of 650 PSI(Pounds per Square Inch). But when compared to the strongest bitting domestic dog English Mastiff(550PSI), the biting force of the lion is not too high.

When compared to male lions, the female lions have more life span. The life span of the male lion is 8-10 years, whereas the life span of the female lion is 10-15 years.

Lions make most of their hunt during the nighttime. They also have a great sight during the night. This gives lions an advantage while capturing their prey.

According to WWF, lionesses play only specific roles during their prey hunts.  Some of the lionesses play the 'center,' and others play the role of 'wings.' In lions, wings refer to the lions who chase the prey towards the center of the group.

10. Majestic roars:

It is said that the lions are the only cats who roar together. According to WWF, the roar of the pride can be heard 5 miles away. This sequence also lasts for the length of 40 seconds.

11. Requirement of water:

Lions do not need a high quantity of water for them to live. If lions require water, they can also get it from the plants. They also get some amount of water from their prey.

12. Lions in Europe:

According to some research, evidence of the existence of lions has been found in European countries. Many of them were in Greece, Bulgaria, and their neighboring countries. Other than in Africa, the wild lions are present only in India, with only a small population. It is only present in Gir National Park.

13. Lion according to science:

As every species has its own scientific name, the lion also has its own scientific name. The scientific name of the lion is Panthera Leo. They belong to the Felidae family.
