Do you know a couple that looks so cute and happy it makes your stomach turn? On the one hand you’re thinking “I wish my relationship was like that” and on the other hand you’re all “get a room and never leave it.” Their sheer happiness makes you uncomfortable, and you look at them with equal measure of glee and disgust. Well, while looks can often be deceiving with these kinds of couples, it’s actually a real thing sometimes. What’s their secret?
It’s all about doing some things on a daily basis. This isn’t a waterproof blueprint, but it’ll help to find that disgusting level of connection with your partner so you can creep out your friends the next time you go somewhere. Let’s take a look.
1. Share a Ritual
Nothing is too silly when it comes to your daily rituals. Whether it’s putting that weird wrinkle cream on each other or sending your partner a song of the day. It doesn’t have to be this huge gesture, but it’s a short moment of time you spend with your partner or thinking of your partner.
2. Dole Out Compliments
Yes, I know, big shocker. The secret to a happy relationship is actually feeling inspired and awed by your partner and letting them know by giving them compliments. No one would have ever guessed this, right? Anyway, as silly as it sounds, just do it. A compliment a day keeps the divorce lawyer away.

Physically holding your partner, even if it’s just for a few minutes, can be a great start or finish to your day. It’s just a matter of being in the moment and focused on your partner and blocking out the rest of the world. And it’s also a great excuse to not get out of bed immediately as the alarm goes off. Everybody wins.
4. Kiss Goodbye
Just give each other a kiss before you leave for work. It’s such a small thing, but it goes a long way towards solidifying your bond. It feels good to be able to come home to someone who refuses to leave the house without kissing you first.
5. Brush Up
Another small thing that goes a long way: preparing the other person’s toothbrush in the morning or in the evening. It’s a gesture that only costs you five seconds of time, but it’ll show your partner that you thought of them, too.
6. Pillow Talk
Don’t just get to bed and go to sleep. Take some time to talk to each other, whether it’s about your work or more serious stuff like your concerns and plans for the future. Our lives are so busy these days that this is one of the few moments you have to have some undisturbed and relaxed conversation with your partner.
7 . Say Thanks
Gratitude is the cornerstone of every relationship with every human being in your life, so I don’t know why you’d think your actual relationship would be any different. Be thankful for the little things your partner does and let them know that you’re thankful by explicitly saying so.
8. Spoil Each Other
Instead of looking at what chores your partner hasn’t done, try a different approach. See the things they have done and try to out-nice them. If you turn it into a contest of who can be nicest, you’ll both end up in a much more fulfilling relationship, and it won’t feel like you’re doing chores anymore. You’ll be doing favors for your partner.
9. Be Happy to See Each Other
It’s such a small thing, but really be happy when your partner comes home from work or when you see them after waking up in the morning. This is the person you’re spending your life with, you should be happy that they want to do the same. Then being there is all the reason you need to be happy, so show it.
10. Take Walks
Even if it’s just a 10 minute walk. Take some time to physically remove yourself from all distractions that take your focus away from your partner and just create a small moment of time when it’s just the two of you. No phones, no emails from work, just a short walk with the two of you spending quality time together.
11. Start Your Day Together
Anything from bringing your partner coffee in the morning to physically walking them to work will do. Just be sure to start your day by acknowledging your partner and doing something with or for them. It’s such a small thing that goes a very long way.
12 . Text Sweet Nothings
Being physically apart doesn’t mean that you can’t communicate with each other. Send your partner a few small texts throughout the day, and it’ll surely give them warm and cozy feelings. And they’ll want to come home quicker!
