Weight gain is something that everyone experiences, especially during the winter months. According to the University of Rochester, people acquire an average of 1 to 3 pounds around the holidays due to factors ranging from overindulging in sweet sweets to being overburdened with worry. But don't be put off by too-tight pants.
Never eat without a fork
It's easy to overeat when you eat by the handful. That's why Janet Detore, an EMP180° registered dietitian, is a big fan of the fork method for weight loss.
Or standing up.
Have you ever started chewing on a snack while standing in the kitchen, only to discover an empty bag a minute later? "We're all guilty of multitasking at mealtime," Detore admits. Sit down, take a deep breath, and pay attention to your food and hunger. The more you enjoy your meal, the less you will eat of it."
After each home - cooked meal, it is vital to whiten your teeth.
Losing weight may simply imply brushing your teeth more frequently. It may sound too good to be true, but a 2016 study published in the journal Experimental and Therapeutic Medicine discovered that people who brushed their teeth after meals or snacks had lower rates of obesity than those who did not. "Nothing tastes good mixed with mint!" exclaims Detore.
Don't skip meals
You may believe that skipping meals is the best way to lose weight, but this is not the case. Detore enjoys eating all day. But this generally leads to an overeating frenzy that culminates in a food coma and twice (or treble) the day's targeted calories," she explains.
However, you must fast between dinner and breakfast.
If you tend to snack late at night, try fasting between dinner and breakfast to reduce your calorie intake for the day. During that time, you can still drink water, herbal teas, or hot water with lemon "Juliet Kafka, a celebrity trainer, says "For example, if you complete supper at 8 pm, you can eat breakfast at 8:00 am, but no snacking in between."
Take a pot of Joe.
Even if you're trying to lose weight, you can still enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. According to a 2019 study published in the journal Scientific Reports, drinking coffee can stimulate brown adipose tissue, also known as "brown fat," which produces heat in the body by burning calories.
However, avoid the calorie-laden lattes.
If you start each day with a calorie-laden beverage from your favorite coffee shop, replace it with something more weight-loss-friendly. Kafka recommends ordering a double green tea with steaming almond, soy, or oat milk.
The proper method to deal with overeating.
Everyone eats too much. However, the next time you overindulge in grains, sweets, or cocktails, don't punish self by missing meals the next day. Instead, use a four-step method recommended by Kafka to get your body back on track.
Determine which bad behaviors are impeding your progress.
It will be difficult to lose weight if you do not first identify what is impeding your progress. "Identify current habits that lead to unhealthy eating," Harvard University registered dietitian Katherine D. McManus counselled. Do you skip lunch only to feel ravenous by playmaker, ready to eat anything? Do you finish everything on your plate even when you're feeling full?
Consider why you eat.
Do you want to eat, or are you looking for something to eat emotionally? McManus told Harvard that distinguishing between the two is critical, especially when losing weight. Or do you consume food when you are stressed, bored, tired, sad, or anxious? "She claims. If you're experiencing emotional hunger, avoid overeating by trying to cope in healthier ways, such as going for a walk, engaging in a hobby, or practicing yoga.
