Do you want to be found better in Google? I have 10 tips for you, formulated briefly and powerfully, that you can easily apply to your website or webshop. Always keep one thing in mind: write for your visitors, not for Google. If your website is informative, clear, and attractive to your visitors, Google will appreciate it and reward it with a better position.
1. Add your website to Google Search Console
Google Search Console, asked Webmaster Tools, is the tool for anyone who takes their website seriously. If you are not yet found in Google or if you want to increase your visibility, start here. Submit your sitemap so that Google can easily find all the pages of your site. Check that your robots.txt file is not blocking unnecessary resources, and check your index coverage. In it, you can immediately see which pages Google has found and – more importantly – which are and have not been indexed and why.
Tip: Want to know if your site has already been indexed by Google? Then type in Google: site:domainname.nl. In our case, that would be site:webdesigntilburg.nl. You can immediately see which pages are already being found by Google.
2. Provide a clear site structure
The better Google understands your website and all individual pages, the better they rank in search results. Group content about a specific topic on one page and ensure that it is easy to find using a clear main menu.

3. Provide a good URL and good metadata
The URL and metadata of a page, along with the title (H1) of a page, are the most important indication for Google what the page is about. Ensure that your most important search terms are included (start your meta title with your most important keyword).
In addition, the meta title (also called title tag) and the meta description are shown by Google in the search results. So also include a call-to-action in your text and name your most important USPs so that people click on your link and not on that of your competitor. Examples of call-to-action texts are 'Order online' or 'View our range.' The Metadata can be found in the source code of your website. You can usually easily adjust them in the management system (CMS) of your website.
Important: Make sure your metadata is unique for every page on your website.
4. Provide enough interesting and relevant information
If your website contains a lot of information about a certain topic, Google will be happy to show your website to its users. After all, that's what they're looking for. Always make sure that your texts are written for your visitors, not for Google. So do not use too many keywords in a text. The more natural the text, the more Google appreciates it.
On average, take into account at least 300 words on a page.
5. Use headers and subheadings
Especially if there is quite a bit of text on your website, it is important to use headers or titles (h1) and subheadings (h2). This makes the text clearer and therefore easier to read for your visitors. They make clear at a glance what a paragraph is about. For the same reason, Google also values these H1 and H2 headlines. So make sure they include your most important keywords. Make sure each page has one H1 heading. H2s can be placed at the beginning of each new paragraph.

6. Describe images
Google cannot read images. Therefore, give photos and other images a description. This is called the alt tag. In a good management system, you should be able to adjust this yourself easily. Also, try to include your most important keywords here.
7. Use relevant keywords in internal links
Do not link texts such as 'click here or 'more information. Make sure the linked text contains important keywords. Links grab the reader's attention, so make sure they see important information. Not: We also have red ladies' bicycles. Read more. Well: Read more about our red women's bicycles. Using keywords as internal links also helps for search engine optimization.
8. Start a blog
Do you have enough news and information to report about your company, industry, brands, products, or services? Then start a blog. With this, you show (potential) customers that you are an expert in your field, it provides a lot of new content on your website (something that Google finds important), and it is perfect for attracting more visitors to your website.
9. Be sure to write about or link to your website
Google likes to show reliable results in its search results. If your website or webshop is often linked, Google assumes that it is a good, reliable website or an authority on a certain subject. So make sure that as many (relevant) websites as possible link to you. For example, think of homepages, forums, or blogs. For example, invite bloggers or loyal customers to an event, or give them a first (for example, when introducing a new product) and get them to write about you (and link to you). You then kill two birds with one stone: because the advertising that someone else makes for you is always the best!
10. Install and use Google Analytics
Google Analytics is a fantastic tool for measuring web statistics. For example, you can see how many visitors come to your website every day, where they come from, what keywords they used to find you, what percentage of your visitors place an order or contact you, and much more. In short: you can see how your website is performing and use the results to improve your website.
