TOP 10 TAMIL SUPERSTAR-MOVIES

TOP 10 TAMIL SUPERSTAR-MOVIES

The title is a little bit confusing; I know it very well. Am I talking about superstar movies or super hit movies? In brief, I’m going to talk about some incredible hit movies with our Tamil superstars! The Tamil industry is enormous and vibrant with young actors. But when we see the bustle- spirit of Thalivar Rajanikanth, we should ask ourselves who is old-aged in this industry!

From the Tamil movies of superstars we love, let me rank the top 10 films below. This ranking is based on my interest in the movie, thrilling elements, and financial success. I hope you will adhere to the list I make after considering the factors I have felt. To keep it exciting, let us begin from the 10th movie on the list:

10. CHAKRA

The 2021 movie starring Vishal, the producer cum actor of the Tamil industries, has many reasons to be inserted into this list. Technology-driven movies always have a massive canvas in our minds. But this movie had successfully told the story within the limited scope of this pandemic situation.

The movie went quite thrilling with the new and exciting look of the villain and back story, which was almost satisfying. But the most significant fault we can see in the movie is that we don’t find enough points to differentiate it from the film, crumbs that.

9. KALA

Most critics of Rajanikanth and his fans were fascinated by this movie. What made this star of stars come down to the slums of Mumbai? The story of the poor people and being their leader is what every superstar has as his hobby. But here he was, weak, old, and almost lost his fame struggling for years like any other politician.

But salute to that great mind who bounced down for this story; and a great applause to the filmmaker Pa Ranjith for his second venture with such a theme. But like any other superstar movie in which the star was injured and lacked a colourful life, the film too struggled to find a good financial success.

8. 24

If I were making this list out of my favorite Films alone, this movie would have gained the first position. The brilliant acting of Suriya and the genius script by the director had taken it to an international standard.

But the shocking news was that the same movie struggled to regain its cost of production! Let me guess that the story lacked clarity before the eyes of ordinary people. It is a crime to demand viewers to be geniuses to understand a movie, and for which the film was punished.

7. KABALI

Kabali was the movie that ought to be taken as a case study for film schools on how far a movie can be successful in pre-release marketing. The element, Rajanikanth was efficiently used in it.

But was the film good? Sure, but the film wasn't as satisfying as it was claimed. The brilliance of the filmmaker and musician was seen in the movie. But what it lacked is an exciting twist. The movie was Rajanikanth's movie, in a new destination.

6. VISWASAM

Thala movies always have a special place in the Tamil movie industry. When he is up with blockbuster maker Siva, we always expect a mast feast.

But the exciting factor in the movie was the combination of family feelings with an action-oriented story. Many great filmmakers have failed to present this combination. And families took this movie to their homes, making it another hit on Thala's list.

5. MASTER

Vijay, like any other superstar, had a kind of story for which he acted alone. For the same reason, filmmakers were forced to create a report for him or alter the story in such a manner. We have heard that he said no to veteran director Gautham Menon when he approached him with the ‘druvanakshathiram’ movie script, simply because it was not the kind of movie he acted in.

It was where the brilliance of the filmmaker, Lokesh kanakaraj, where he plotted a story that satisfied both his and Vijay’s audience. The music director Anirudh Ravichandran, who proved himself in all his projects, had done his job perfectly.

4. PETTAH

I would have to copy-paste what I wrote above, replacing the name Vijay with “Rajanikanth.”

The creation of the Karthik Subbarao was quite impressive and stunning in the dark color. He had brilliantly made use of Rajanikanth features, even his loud laughter. Once again, Anirudh Ravichandran was the musical talk of the Tamil streets.

3. MERSAL

Attlee Joseph is a director born to make Vijay’s movies. All three films he made starring Vijay were super-hits. The charm of Vijay's three characters in this movie was never seen in him, before or after. The musical treat by Mozart of madras A.R. Rahman was an inevitable part of the film. Altogether, it was such a ‘rich’ film, earning about two billion worldwide.

2. ANYAN

Why is this 20-year-old movie's name mentioned here? I have my reasons if we consider money value (that’s economics, okay) the profit which this movie made would be huge like what we can’t imagine for a film to make now! Shankar’s brilliance and what else?

The movie was enriched with stars and the outstanding performance of Vikram. It was the first south-Indian movie to make such a quake in a film industry outside India. Moreover, no one can still forget the mass impact of a psycho- transition from Ambi to Anniyan and the Karate fight scenes shot with 120 cameras!

1. VETHALAM

And at last, we have reached the top one! Vethalam; what makes it the best superstar movie? I have told you initially that this ranking is based on three factors; now, let us see how this movie scores those factors. The very first factor was my interest. Being a film aspirant and a lover of Tamil movies, I would always love to see a film like this. The movie had an emotion that touched me a lot; a brother’s life dedicated to little sister. There the movie succeeded in winning my heart. Most films that emphasize brother-sister relations had a brother who waited till the sister was maimed to show his care for her, but it didn’t happen here, making it unique.

The second factor was the thrilling element. Beyond the immense build-up given to Vethalam, what excited me in this movie is the struggle he led to keep the truth away from his sister, which was a grand success until the end of the story!

Finally, the financial success of the movie was not questioned by anyone. Now, a song comes to my ears; needn’t doubt the same song that made all of us dance madly from our seats: ‘Aluma volume. Both the music and the movie was a huge hit and became a peculiar masterpiece among a money-earning film of our country.

Reading this list, you would wonder whether I skipped the names of big-budget movies like Enthiran. No, but I have taken special care to choose films that were noticed for the presence of superstar actors, directors, and musicians and no other factors.

If you can’t agree with my list, feel free to comment why. I hope you all enjoyed this article.
