1. Burj Khalifa 

 

The Burj Khalifa in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, remains the tallest building in the world for the past decade. Completed in 2010, the building stands at an altitude of 2,717 feet. Construction began in 2004. It has a total of 163 floors. 

 

 

2. Shanghai Tower

 

China's Shanghai Tower stands 2,073 feet high. Built in 2015, it is the second largest in the world and has 128 floors. Its elevators run at 20.5 meters per second. The building has offices, shops and leisure facilities.

 

 

3. Makkah Royal Clock Tower

 

The Makkah Royal Clock Tower located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, is 1,972 feet high and is currently known as the world's third-largest building. It was built in 2012, privately owned and costs about $ 15 billion. It is part of a seven-storey hotel complex.

At 1,667 square feet [1,667 sq m], the Taipei 101 - formerly known as the Taipei World Financial Center in Taiwan - ranks 10th in the world's tallest building. It was built in 2004, considered to be the tallest building in the world until 2009, when the Burj Khalifa was built in Dubai.
