By now we all are aware about Korean's obsession with healthy and glowing skin. Achieving this is not a cakewalk and one has to follow to lot of regimes. We all grew up following the three steps of skin care- which are cleansing, toning and moisturizing. But there is more to this which include essences, sheet masks and serums. We have explained the 10-step skin care routine followed by Koreans. Take note
Step 1: Oil-based cleanser
This first step is imperative but easy to follow. The first cleanser used is an oil-based cleanser which helps in removing all the impurities, dirty pores, make-up residue but also protects the good bacteria present on the lipid layer of the skin.
Step 2: Double cleansing
The second cleanser should be water-based, which will help to wash away the undesirable oil from the previous step. A water based cleanser will also help to remove dirt and sweat and to freshen up the pores effectively.
Step 3: Exfoliate
Consult a dermatologist to know how many times a week you should exfoliate as it improves the skin tone and texture by removing the dead skin cells and also prevents clogging of pores. Exfoliation can be done using either scrubs Or chemical liquids, it will depend on the texture of your skin.
Step 4: Toner
A toner preps the face for the next steps and helps balancing the PH level of the skin as well.
Step 5: Essence
An water-based essence is recommended which is basically an amalgam containing serum
and toner. It will help keep the skin hydrated. Regular application will give you a bright and radiating skin.
Step 6: Ampoule/serum
This step helps to restore the hydration that the skin requires. They are concentrated serums which target wrinkles, dryness, skin aging, as well as hyper-pigmentation.
Step 7: Sheet mask
Sheet masks are the most popular Korean product which is not only comfortable for the skin but also easy to use. The face-shaped masks are soaked with serum and other hydrating essences which helps nourish the skin making it radiant.
Step 8: Eye cream
Under eyes are the most sensitive areas of the face. It is one of the first areas to show signs of aging. The eye cream helps to hydrate the skin, making it youthful and glowing.
Step 9: Moisturizer
A moisturiser helps to lock up all the products applied before it and thus, rejuvenates the skin, beautifying the complexion.
Step 10: Sunscreen
Sunscreen is the most crucial part of any skin routine. It helps to prevent the harmful UV rays from the Sun from damaging the skin, reducing the chances of skin cancer as well as DNA damage. It also keeps unnecessary tanning at bay.
