Top 10 Run Scorers From IPL 2008

The inaugural edition of IPL took place in the year 2008. When the player score more runs in a season, he will be rewarded as an Orange Cap Holder. This article describes IPL 2008 Orange Cap Holder along with the next nine leading run-scorers of IPL 2008.
 
 

1. Shaun Marsh - Kings XI Punjab.

The Australian batsman Shaun Marsh represented for team Kings XI Punjab in the inaugural edition of IPL. And also, he becomes the orange cap holder of the IPL 2008. His batting style was impressive for everyone. He played 11 matches throughout the IPL 2008, which is less than other players in the top 10 run-scorers. After playing 11 matches, he scored 616 runs which include a century and five half-centuries. He also had an awesome average of 68.44. 2. Gautam Gambhir - Delhi Daredevils.

In IPL 2008, Gautam Gambhir played for the Delhi Daredevils team. He played as an opener for Delhi Daredevils and played a key role for Delhi Daredevils to qualify into Semifinals. He was the second-leading run-scorer in IPL 2008. He played 14 matches and scored 534 runs at an average of 41.08. He also registered five half-centuries, and his best individual score is 86, and it came up against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
 
 

3. Sanath Jayasuriya - Mumbai Indians.

The aggressive left-hander from Sri Lanka played for Mumbai Indians in IPL 2008 as an opener. He played very well for his team and scored 514 runs throughout the season by playing 14 matches. He also had a good average of 42.83.  He scored two half-centuries and a century. His century came up against the team Chennai Super Kings and scored 114 in that match. 
 
 

4. Shane Watson - Rajasthan Royals.

In IPL 2008, Australian allrounder Shane Watson played for Rajasthan Royals under Shane Warne's captaincy. He played both top and middle order batting positions to keep his team in a good position, which helped win the IPL trophy in 2008. He played 15 matches and scored 472 with an average of 47.20. He also added four half-centuries to his account. His best individual IPL 2008 in 76 runs, and he scored it against Kings XI Punjab.
 
 

5. Graeme Smith - Rajasthan Royals.

The South African opener didn't fail to score runs and entertain his team and his fans. He played in the top order position for Rajasthan Royals and scored runs very well. He played 11 matches for his team and scored 441 runs at an average of 49. He also registered three half-centuries in the same season. He scored his best individual score against Chennai Super Kings and scored 91 runs in that match. 
 
 

6. Adam Gilchrist - Deccan Charges

Adam Gilchrist was an Australian aggressive left-hand opener. He always loves to score runs with his aggressive batting style. He played for Deccan Chargers and played 14 matches in IPL 2008 season. He also scored 436 throughout the season. He made his average 33.54. He scored three half-centuries and one century in IPL 2008. His century came against Mumbai Indians, and he scored 109 runs.
 
 

7. Yusuf Pathan - Rajasthan Royal

The Indian allrounder, with aggressive batting style and his beautiful spin skills, helped his team to make their first IPL trophy in the first season itself. He played 16 matches and 15 innings with the bat and scored 435 runs at an average of 31.07. He also impressively registered four half-centuries, and his best individual is 68 runs came against Deccan Chargers.
 
 

8. Suresh Raina - Chennai Super Kings.

Another left-hander from India grabbed the spot no.8 in the top 10 run-scorers list. He played 14 innings out of sixteen matches and scored 421 runs, and the average is 38.27. Suresh Raina is a key player for Chennai Super Kings. He scored three half-centuries in that season, and his best individual score came against Kings XI Punjab after scoring 55 runs.
 
 

9. MS Dhoni - Chennai Super Kings.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni captained his team Chennai Super Kings and became a finalist. But unfortunately ended up on the runner's side. After a great journey in the 2007 T20 World as a Captain, MS Dhoni captained his team Chennai Super Kings in IPL inaugural edition. He played 14 innings out of 16 matches and scored 414 runs. His average in IPL 2008 is 41.40. He also scored two half-centuries. His best individual score in IPL 2008 in 65 runs, and he scored against Royal Challengers Bangalore.
 
 

10. Virender Sehwag - Delhi Daredevils.

The Indian aggressive right-hand opener Virender Sehwag played for Delhi Daredevils. With his aggressive batting style, he always scored important runs for his team. He played 14 matches and scored 406 runs at an average of 33.83. He also added three half-centuries to his account, and his best individual score is 94 runs which came up against Deccan Chargers.
