The list of the world's richest individuals may vary from year to year based on their latest net worth and financial performance.  Here is the latest list of the top 10 richest people in the world, based on the real-time Forbes list of June 16, 2022, and some interesting facts about each of them.

 

   1. Elon Musk - $215.6 billion

 Elon Musk is working to revolutionize transportation on Earth—through electric car maker Tesla—and in space, through rocket maker SpaceX.  Elon Musk's electric car company Tesla is now worth about $ 800 billion, currently his net worth is $ 215.6 billion.  Musk's rocket company SpaceX is now valued at around $100 billion.  Tesla has become the world's most valuable automaker with a market capitalization of $800 billion in October 2021.

 

 2. Bernard Arnault & Family - $139.1 billion

 LVMH - France's President and CEO Bernard Arnault is today the second richest person in the world.  He has a net worth of $139.1.3 billion as a result of his business in an empire of over 70 brands including Louis Vuitton and Sephora.  French businessman and Europe's richest man Bernard Arnault had amassed a net worth of $100 billion in December last year.

 

   3. Jeff Bezos - $133.4 billion

 Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos has a net worth of $133.4 billion and ranks as the third richest person on earth today.  His position remains the same after he divorced his wife Mackenzie in 2019 and transferred a quarter of his stake in Amazon to her.  Bezos founded behemoth Amazon in 1994 out of his garage in Seattle.  The e-commerce giant has taken advantage of this coronavirus pandemic, with more and more people shopping online.

 

    4. Bill Gates - $122.4 billion

 The co-founder of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Bill Gates has a net worth of $122.4 billion.  After founding software giant Microsoft with Paul Allen, Bill Gates eventually sold most of his stake in the company, retaining only 1% of the shares and investing the remainder in shares and other assets.  Bill Gates entered the $100 billion club in April last year when Microsoft's stock price surged after earnings.  The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest private charitable foundation in the world.

 

  5. Warren Buffet - $100.9 billion

 Popularly known as the Oracle of Omaha, Warren Buffett is viewed as one of the most successful investors of all time.  He runs Berkshire Hathaway, which owns more than 60 companies, including the famous Jio Insurance, Duracell, Dairy Queen restaurants.  His net worth is $100.9 billion.  The son of a US Congressman, he bought his first stock at the age of 11.

 

 6. Gautam Adani and family - $97.2 billion

 Gautam Adani, the promoter of the Adani Group, has diversified his multi-million business fortune into energy, logistics, agriculture, aerospace and other sectors.  The Adani Group is a multinational conglomerate concerned with port operation and development in India, making Adani the richest person in Asia.

 

   7.Mukesh Ambani- $96.6 billion

 A Stanford dropout, Ambani has been one of the richest men in Asia for more than a decade.  He is the owner and chairman of Reliance Industries, which generates revenue of over $74 billion according to Forbes.

 

   8. Larry Ellison - $95.9 billion

 Larry Ellison has a net worth of $95.9 billion, which he earned from Oracle, the software firm he founded in 1977.  He stepped down as the company's CEO in 2014 and has since served as the chairman.  Company's Board and Chief Technology Advisor.  Ellison has also been on Tesla's board since December 2018, when he bought 3 million shares earlier that year.  He owns almost all of the Hawaiian island of Lanai.

 

     9. Larry Page - $95.0 billion

 Google co-founder Larry Page has a net worth of $95 billion and ranks ninth among the richest people in the world.  He has also invested in the renowned space exploration company Planetary Resources, and is also funding "flying cars", startup companies Kitty Hawk and Opener.

 

   10. Sergey Brin - $91.4 billion

 Alphabet co-founder and board member, Sergey Brin has a net worth of $91.4 billion, which places him tenth among the world's richest men.  He co-founded Google with Larry Page in 1998, which went public in 2004 and became Alphabet in 2015.
