Are you tired of the diet tips provided by someone with an unlimited income?
For some of us, it may not be practical to spend part of our Sunday preparing carefully digested food for the rest of the week, or we may be able to afford all our packaged foods. And there are those of us who cling to the idea of measuring food in order to achieve the ‘right half sizes’. Here are ten tips for real life food for all of us.
1. Eating out? Restaurant parts are usually large, and when on a plate, we usually eat them. If possible, order in the child menu, where the sections have a reasonable size.
2. Keep healthy snacks nearby and easily accessible. A fruit bowl on the kitchen table, an edible vegetable dish with watery branches or carrot sticks in the fridge, or a few open cans of fruit salad on your desk at work will help you hold something healthy when those early hunger pangs begin. In other words, you are more likely to hold something low in calories and good for you if it is easy to eat.
3. Replace canned vegetables with frozen vegetables. Canned vegetables tend to be high in sodium, unwanted, and low in real food, which you do. Buy economically sealed bags with zipper to make it easier to unload one food.
4. Buy vegetable stew. Heat is one of the healthiest ways to cook vegetables. Food retains almost all of your natural nutrients instead of expelling it from cooking water. Even better, it makes your vegetables more palatable - which means you will probably eat them instead of filling up on fatty foods for weight loss.
5. Never eat dry. One of the easiest ways to destroy your diet is to ‘eat without thinking’. Treat food with proper respect. Prepare a plate. Sit down and eat properly. You are less likely to put food in your mouth without paying attention.
6. Distribute your food. When you eat three times a day, your body usually stores whatever you do not need at that moment. By practicing ‘grazing,’ you will keep your metabolism active throughout the day. Eat a small breakfast, a slice of fruit with crackers or toast in the morning, a light lunch and a 'snack after school' during the afternoon. Just remember that you divide the same amount of food into smaller meals, NOT ADDING extra food to your daily diet.
7. Take fruit juice or spiced water instead of soda. Soda is nothing but empty calories. No nutrients, either, much sugar. Instead, take a bottle of 100% fruit juice, or spiced water with a fruit spritz.
8. Drink water. Even the FDA recommends at least 8 full glasses of water a day to keep your body functioning. When preparing food, you should drink more. It’s not just that full feeling - water helps your body digest food properly and cleanse your system.
9. Can't afford a gym membership? Make an appointment with friends to exercise together. Do a date at least three times a week to play volleyball, take a trip or spend half an hour doing something active.
10. Skip potato chips. Fatty foods fried with hydrogenated fats like potato chips provide fats and calories and not much else. Instead, take a handful of dried fruit or a cup of yogurt with the same amount of calories and the benefits of a nutritious diet. Number of words: 610
