1. New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to chair a meeting with the Council of Ministers on Wednesday (July 14), said sources.
This will be PM Modi's second meeting with the Council of Ministers after the Union Cabinet reshuffle on July 7. z A day after the expansion of the Union Cabinet, the Prime Minister had back-to-back meetings with the union cabinet and council of ministers on Thursday. In the meeting on Thursday, sources said that Prime Minister had cautioned Ministers against any complacency in the fight against COVID-19, saying that over the past few days, there have been pictures and videos of crowded places and people roaming about without masks or social distancing and "it should instill a sense of fear in us."

2. The start of the India vs. Sri Lanka ODI series has been postponed to July 18 due to multiple Covid-19 cases in the Lankan camp. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Jay Shah confirmed the same to news agency PTI on Saturday. It was earlier reported that the first match, which was supposed to take place in Colombo on July 13, could take place on July 17. But, as per the update issued by Shah, the series will begin on July 18.

The Uttar Pradesh government plans to give incentives to couples who have one child while denying government benefits to those having more than two children in its new population policy, the draft of which was released in Lucknow on Saturday.

The Uttar Pradesh Population (Control, Stabilisation, and Welfare) Bill, 2021, according to the official sources, aims at ''revitalizing efforts and providing for measures to control, stabilize and provide welfare to the population of the state by implementation and promotion of two-child norm''.
The Bill allows couples with more than two children ineligible for state government jobs and bar them from contesting panchayat elections. In comparison, those with two children would receive two additional increments, a subsidy in purchasing the house and a rebate in the utility bills.
4. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, on Friday, has said that the government has asked police officials to make sure that COVID-19 protocols are strictly followed in the state. The Deputy Chief Minister said this after photos of tourists at hill stations went viral on social media, unfollowing COVID-19 COVID protocols.

5. The southwest monsoon will revive on Saturday, with easterly winds intensifying and covering parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said lower-level easterly winds from the Bay of Bengal had extended northwestwards, making conditions favorable for the further advancement of the monsoon.

Dr. PK Warrier, a flag-bearer of Ayurveda who played a critical role in popularising Kerala's traditional mode of treatment across the world, passed away at the age of 100 at his home in Kottakkal.
