UFC is the most well-known and biggest organization for Mixed Martial Arts, and it provides a chance to talented MMA artists worldwide to showcase their talent. UFC is often criticized for low-paying to their athletes, but UFC always works for the best matchup that every audience wants to see. In addition, the title fights are often among the top-ranked fighter in every division. Thus, it is fascinating to see the best to perform together.
10. Stipe Miocic vs Francis Ngannou 1 :
This event was held on 20 January 2018 at UFC 220 for the heavyweight championship of the world. Stipe was the champion, but he was the underdog against the powerhouse Francis Ngannou. The fight was highly anticipated, and everyone was inquisitive to know who is the Baddest Man on the planet.
The fight started with high tension, and according to Ariel Helwani, a journalist from ESPN, the first round is the Round of the Year. In the first round, Ngannou landed some big shots, but Stipe absorbed them, and later in the round, Stipe dominated Ngannou with his wrestling skills. After the 5 rounds of clear domination, Stipe won the fight by decision and showed everyone why he is the greatest heavyweight champ ever. It was Stipe's 3rd consecutive defense of the heavyweight belt, which was never happened before. Though This fight is clearly one-sided, this fight makes a place on the list because this fight proved that skills are better than power.
9. Jan Blachowiz vs Dominic Reyes :
It was the co-main event of UFC 253 for the light heavyweight championship. For the first time since 2010, any other athlete except Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier won the Light-Heavyweight Title for the first time. Jan Blachowiz has the legendary Polish Power, and Reyes was coming off a very controversial loss from Jon Jones.
Reyes was the favorite, and Blachowiz was the underdog. But Since the beginning, Blachowiz used his brutal leg kicks to stop Reyes's Movement. This fight was competitive in the first round. However, as soon as the fight progress, the kicks were slowing down Reyes, and at the end of the second round, The Polish Power Blachowiz won by technical knock-out. This fight was the start of a new era for the Light-Heavyweight division after Jon Jones officially moved to the Heavy-weight division.
8. Stipe vs. DC 3 :
This was the main event of UFC 252 to show who is the best Heavy-Weight ever. In their First fight, Daniel Cormier (DC) knock-out Miocic (UFC 226). But in the second fight, Miocic defeated DC in UFC 241. So, this was the opportunity to prove who is the best heavyweight ever.
This fight starts with both men as a favorite, and both came to the octagon with very light-weight. Stipe dominated DC, but DC also gave good competition to Stipe. There was a moment when DC was getting KO'ed by Stipe but saved by the bell. This fight went to decision, and Stipe won and ended the debate of who is the greatest Heavyweight Ever. After this fight, DC retired, but this trilogy is always special.
7. Dustin Poirier vs. Max Holloway 2 :
Max Holloway moved up one division to challenge the Lightweight belt against Dustin Poirier. Max was in a 13 fight winning streak and already renowned as the Greatest Featherweight Ever. But Dustin was in the form of his life and had a greater size advantage.
This fight was for the interim lightweight belt. Both fighters are known for their stand-up fights, so the audience was very excited to see their clash in UFC 236. The fight was fierce, exciting, and very close. Dustin won by the decision, but Max showed good boxing ability. This fight was one of the best fights of the year contender of 2019.
6. Jon Jones vs. Dominic Reyes :
Probably this is the last fight of Jon Jones in the Light-Heavyweight division if he doesn't return in this division. This fight has happened in UFC 247, and it is a very controversial fight. Many analysts believe that Reyes was robbed, and it was Jon Jones's first actual loss.
Reyes started the fight aggressively and gave Jon Jones the biggest trouble that Jones has ever faced. An uppercut from Reyes brutally shocked Jones. But in later rounds, some takedowns and cardio problems slow down Reyes, but according to the most analyst, Reyes won the first 3 rounds and the fight too. But Judges gave the fight to Jones, but fans were heartbroken about it. After this fight, Jones vacant his title and moved to the Heavyweight division.
5. Stipe vs. DC 2 :
After a loss from Daniel Cormier in UFC 226, Miocic returns to regain his UFC 241. Daniel Cormier was confident that he'd win the fight because he believed Stipe's skills are not close to his skillset. But this fight shows that Stipe has a champion's heart.
Daniel Cormier was very dominant on Stipe in rounds 1 and 2. He controlled stipe by takedowns and his punching combinations. But in round 3, Stipe tried to return to the fight and gave some tough time to Cormier. In 4th round, Stipe used some brutal liver punch and slowed down DC, and DC was completely exhausted in that round. Stipe utilized the chance and TKO'd DC to regain his Heavyweight Title, which leads both of them into a trilogy. After losing 3 consecutive rounds, Stipe came back into the game and won the fight like a boss, showed his mental strength.
4. Max Holloway vs. Brian Ortega :
With a 10 fight winning streak, Max Holloway had to defend his featherweight belt for the third time to an emerging star Brian Ortega. This Mexican Boy was undefeated and had big wins over big names as Frankie Edgar and was a favorite against Holloway. But Max outclassed Ortega with his boxing.
It was the main event of UFC 231. The fight was almost one-sided, but Ortega showed his toughness. Max landed a record-breaking 290 significant strikes on him in just 4 rounds, and Ortega was still on his feet. The fight ended with doctor stoppage, and Holloway declared the winner. Ortega's performance was good, too, but it was overshadowed by Holloway's Masterclass.
3. Kamaru Usman vs. Colby Covington::
This is one of the best fights of 2019. This fight happened in UFC 245, and it was one of the most heated rivalries in UFC. Colby's trash talks bothered Usman, and this fight turns into a masterclass. This fight is a 24-minute standup clash of 2 wrestlers.
The fight was started, as everyone guessed. Full of action, strikes, boxing from the 2 amazed everyone. The fight was so close till the 4th round nobody knew who is winning on the judge's scorecard. One judge gave 3-1rounds to Colby, another judge gave 3-1 to Usman, and another judge scored the fight 2-2 till the 4th round. But in the fifth round, Usman won by TKO and made his first Title-defense. Though Usman won the fight is controversial because of some decision taken by referee Marc Gordon. Anyway, this fight is one of the best fights ever happened in UFC.
2. Zhang Wellie vs. Joanna :
For the Women's strawweight championship, Champion Zhang defends her belt against Joanna on 8th March 2020 in UFC 248, which turns into an absolute banger. Many people believed that this is the best women's title fight in UFC history. Zhang won the fight, but Joanna won the heart.
This fight was so close and so technical. Both fighters landed many heavy strikers on each other for 5 rounds. In the end, Zhang Well won by the decision, but many athletes, including Conor Mcgregor, believe that Joanna won that fight. Zhang Well got the advantages of her brutal power over Joanna's skills on the judges' scorecard. But whatever happened, this fight was a pleasure to watch.
1. Deiveson Figuardo vs Brandon Moreno :
The newly became Champ Figueredo defends the flyweight belt in UFC 255 against Alex Perez. On the same night, Brandon Moreno defeated Brandon Royal. On the same night, they both signed a contract to fight each other in just 21 days' notice in UFC 256. Figueredo became a clear favorite, and people believed he'd win easily, but Moreno is a different breed of fighter. This fight is termed as the best fight of the Flyweight division.
Figgy started the fight aggressively to Knock-out Moreno, but Moreno's durable chin and skills made this fight one of the hard nights for Figgy. Though this fight was a majority draw, watch this if you are watching MMA for the first time. This fight is a treat to watch for everyone.
