The problem with baby clothing is that they don't last long, not because they wear off but the reason is that they grow so faster their clothes outgrow them and don't fit so they can't wear longer.
Shopping for a newborn, baby, or yet to be born, can be tricky and in the excitement and confusion we often end up making several mistakes. However, keeping the following tips in mind may help us shop better as well as save some money.
1. Larger Size Clothes:
As babies grow fast, perfectly fitting clothes may soon become small. Buying a larger size will extend the amount of time your baby can wear them. So you will have some time to buy new clothes because it will take longer to fit them.
2. Don’t buy too many clothes in one size:
Baby clothes are adorable, which tempts us to buy everything we see but babies grow very fast. Avoid buying too much of one size; if you are tempted to shop more, go for one or two sizes up.
3. Predict the weather:
Keep the weather in mind along with your baby’s size and growth.
Observe the labeling on the clothes that state size in terms of a baby’s age, such as 12 or 18 months. Then analyze “When my baby is X months old, what will the weather or temperature be at that time?” Get the answer to this question right and you’ll buy clothes that not only fit but also will be appropriate for the season.
4. Find Easy To Put On Outfits
Some outfits may be messy which makes you struggle to dress your baby into them. Choose outfits that come in one piece, open in the front, have zippers, or snap buttons which should be easier to deal with.
Rather than, outfits that come in several pieces. A button from behind or pull over the head may require more of your patience and time.
5. Buy at the time of Sale:
Babies need new clothes often. Almost every type of store has several attractive sales every six months.
It’s always wise to shop based on your baby’s growth, weather, and upcoming festivals or celebrations in the sale for the next 6 months.
6. Borrowing is not a bad idea:
Your family or friends may have new clothes which their baby didn’t have a chance to wear.Never hesitate to accept what they are willing to give, you’ll save yourself some money, especially if they have clothing you would have bought.
7. Buy in Bundles:
You can save a lot of money and time by buying in bundles. Baby clothes like onesies, rompers, etc., often come in bundles. Try the bundle if it’s a trusted brand.
8. Comfort Matters:
Babies' skin will be delicate and while some designs look cute, they may actually be uncomfortable for the baby. Make sure the fabric you are choosing for your baby is soft and breathable and does not have any protruding zippers or large buttons which can hurt the baby.
Also, ensure that the neck is wide and stretchable enough to easily put on and take off from the neck.
9. Exchange Old Clothes for Cash:
There are some websites which buy old clothes like eBay for example. You may not make as much money as you paid originally for them, however, you’ll at least earn some of your money back.
10. Take Feedback:
There are an overwhelming number of brands available for babies to wear. However, not all of them are of great quality or are durable. Take feedback from other mothers on the quality and value for money of particular brands. You can also check on e-commerce websites for feedback.
Lastly but the most important point to remember, wash and dry the clothes of your little one properly before using it because the baby's skin will be very sensitive and easily get infections.
Shopping for your little one can be a joyous experience and one of the perks of parenthood. Take care of these few basic guidelines and enjoy dressing up your little one.
