2. Asus VivoBook 15

If you like the idea of a Chrome book, but really wished it ran Windows, we’ve found something similar. The Asus VivoBook 15 doesn’t have a ton of oomph, but it’ll get the job done while running Windows desktop apps, and for a killer price.
The CPU is an Intel Core i3-1005G1, which is an Ice Lake processor with two cores, four threads, and a max boost clock of 3.4 GHz It’s an older CPU, sure, but it’ll run your favorite browser just fine, as well as productivity apps like Microsoft Office. You can find desktop apps in the Windows Store now, and this laptop isn’t going to do a lot of advanced stuff. It’s a good choice for basic operations such as email, social media, web browsing, a few light spreadsheets, and video streaming. Anything beyond that and you’ll need something with a little more power. For that reason we’d suggest sticking to what’s available in the Windows Store and avoid installing a ton of programs.

Here’s another Chromebook for under $100. The Asus Chromebook has an 11.6-inch display with 1600-by-768 resolution, 4G B of RAM, and 32 GB of onboard eMMC storage. The processor is a dual-core (two thread) Intel “Apollo Lake” Celeron N3350 with a max boost to 2.4GHZ It should have no troublerunning Linux desktop apps as well as Android apps.
The CPU is a little limited, so you probably can’t run a whole lot at once. However, as a grab-and-go laptop, it’s a nice choice for under $100.

4. HP Victus 16

The HP Victus 16 is a nice little AMD- based 1080 p gaming machine. The CPU is a Ryzen 5 5600 H. That’s a Zen 3 processor with six cores, twelve threads, and a maximum boost clock of 4.2GHZ The processor will do nicely for gaming and productivity. The laptop is also packing 8G B of RAM and a 256 GB SSD.
The 16 1-inch IPS display has a resolution of 1080 p and a refresh rate of 60Hz. The graphics are handled by the AMD Radeon RX 5500 M. It’s all about bringing AMD’s RDNA architecture to budget gaming in a capable package. You should expect good 1080p gaming, though you might not be able to run every game with the graphics maxed out. It’s not a high-end machine, but it’ll get the job done for under $700.

If you want an Ultrabook with a solid processor a good amount of RAM, this laptop is for you. The Asus VivoBook 15 features a 15.6-inch display with 1080 p resolution, 12 GB of RAM, and 256GB of onboard NVMe storage. The processor is an Intel “Ice Lake” quad-core Core i5-1035 G1 with a maximum boost to 3.6GHZ It’s running Windows 10 Home in S Mode, but you can do a one-way upgrade to regular Windows 10. If you’re willing to deal with a mail-in rebate, this is an excellent deal worth considering. The MSI Creator 15 features a 15.6-inch 4K OLED display. The CPU is an eight-core, sixteen-thread Intel “Tiger Lake” Core i7-11800H with a maximum boost to 4.6GHZ It also has 16 GB of RAM, 512 GB of onboard storage, and the GPU is a Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060.
Now, let’s not get any wild ideas here. This isn’t meant to be a gaming PC where the display resolution matches the capabilities of the GPU. This machine is a pro-level creative laptop–hence the name “Creator”–with a solid GPU for video editing, graphic design, photography, and so on. Nevertheless, if you want to game on this thing, you can expect a no-compromises experience at 1080p and a decent 1440p experience if you’re willing to tweak the graphics on a per-game basis. Either way, be sure to dial down the resolution when gaming.

Let’s just start off with the fact that if you pay $225 for this tiny Chromebook, you’re definitely getting ripped off. But $98? That’s just right. The HP 11.6-inch Chromebook isn’t fancy, but it’s cheap, and it’ll work for anyone who needs a basic Chrome OS device. This laptop features an 11.6-inch display with 1366-by-768 resolution and a maximum brightness of 220 nits. It has a dual-core AMD A4-9120C APU, 4G B of RAM, and 32 GB of onboard storage. It also has two USB Type-C ports and two standard USB ports, plus a media card reader.
It’s not an overpowered performer, but it doesn’t have to be. This is a usable laptop for a student or someone else who needs some pretty basic computing power that centers around web apps and sites.
