I'm not going to list all the dramas, but here are the ones that you should watch
The most popular and well known dramas in Korea is tvN's The King of Comedy. As far as dramas go it's very popular, they've made a lot of money from it and it's amazing to see them keep making new ones so each time its different! That being said I think this one will be just as popular on tvN...and maybe even more so if there's a re-run of season 7. And for what is arguably the best Korean dramas period, watch it! It's based off of a real story and was created by the same producer as many of his dramas including My Sassy Girl, Dream House, and Mr. Sunshine. Its main protagonist and the antagonist was played by Lee Yeon Hyun and Park Young Won, respectively. All three of those characters are very important to the story because they're both involved in the love triangle between Jang Eun Bin, Park Si Young, and Tae Ri Ah. It's a fantastic story and I highly recommend watching them play to better understand.
Another pretty popular drama worth checking out would be TVN's Master & Miss Universe. In terms of dramas that fit my Asian culture, Master & Miss Universe are two great dramas that make their way into the hearts of viewers of all kinds. From me personally when I saw the first episode, seeing the four beautiful women who created it made me feel like an old soul again. There were some really emotional moments, I honestly had tears coming up after the last 2 episodes. But, I do recommend this one if only to see who was right with everything that went down during the war between the North Korea army and South Korea army. There really are some interesting themes in this one, and it’s one of my favorites. A couple times throughout the show you will hear people talk about how it’s not actually accurate. I honestly had no idea why that was even a thing until we were halfway through it. So if anything, this could be an awesome historical piece. Another great part of this television production and another masterpiece is the fact that it has the longest running run of any Korean drama. They have done this multiple times, it’s just weird being able to watch something like this happening over multiple seasons.
My next favorite Korean drama is Gantz, a true story set on April 15th, 1988. This story of the American pilots stationed at Changwon Air Base, China, who captured communist guerilla forces in Vietnam and brought them back to America in order to fight for freedom. On May 21st, 1984, all remaining U.S. citizens were transported to the US and the first major tragedy of the era was that thousands of children died under horrible conditions due to government neglect. At this point we're getting introduced to Captain Jack McCoy, a young captain on a combat ship who was given his wings later in life in order to help fight against bad things done to Vietnam.
What a thrilling experience it would've been to watch all of these stories unfold. Especially with such a massive library of dramas making over 810 million dollars, I can't imagine if these dramas wouldn't have kept themselves in the spotlight. In conclusion, for anyone interested in Korean dramas check out tvN's Life geofilter series, Daisy6, and most importantly, Life geofilter. You don't have to go out and buy tickets to enjoy them and you definitely will if you're in the area of Seoul. Trust me, while there are plenty of dramas out there, these dramas stand out. No matter what type of person you are, you will come to admire all of these dramas so much more. Don't forget to share the love!!
