He was one of the prominent leaders of Bihar who joined the Congress. Dr. Rajendra Prasad, a post-graduate in advocacy, was a great supporter of Mahatma Gandhi. Dr. Rajendra Prasad had to go to jail along with Mahatma Gandhi for the Satyagraha movement in 1931 and the Quit India Movement in 1942. Early life
Dr. Rajendra Prasad was born on 3rd December in a Kayastha family in Jiradei village of Siwan district of Bihar. He was very quick to read and at the same time, he had a love for all religions from the very beginning. This is the reason why he mixed easily with people of any religion, caste, or color. Child marriage was very prevalent at that time and that is why Dr. Rajendra Prasad was married only at the age of 12. His wife's name was Rajvanshi Devi.

Dr. Rajendra Prasad was considered a very bright student during his school and college days. He was rewarded with a scholarship of Rs 30 every month for securing first place in the Calcutta University examination and after that, in the year 1902, he joined the famous Calcutta Presidency College.
