It's that time of year again, with falling snowflakes, Christmas cheer and Christmas shopping, hot cups of coconut and a cozy warm fireplace with crackling coals. But what's heating up the fashion scene this winter, a closer look reveals some interesting insights into the latest winter fashion.
This season of winter colors
True to the season, soft snow-white hues seem to be a good choice for an outfit that blends in with the winter theme. Another popular color that helps create sharp contrast is black and various shades of bright black; while matte and muted grays add a nice warm and fuzzy feel, and shades of deep reds to soft maroons reflect the seasons.
For women, the trend is earthy colors from deep shades of olive, chestnut, brown, dark blue to chocolate brown. While for men, muted shades of pink, lavender, brick red, gray, deep shades of purple and black are what set the stage for fashion.
Hair
Choosing the right hairstyle that matches the fashion and the season can be a daunting task. You don't want to be seen in last year's styles, and certainly not in something that isn't the hottest thing right now. So if you're trying to figure out the hairstyle that is the season's choice of stylists and models; it's about time we let you in on this little secret, apparently for women wearing your hair in the all-classic 'Bob Cut' seems to be a popular trend this season.
Men, on the other hand, to pull off the cut, will need to aim for their hair to achieve a bushy straight but carefully tousled look that's tucked into the tops of their mufflers.
Hats
If you love hats, you're in luck, hoodies, hats and caps are all the rage this season. Big knitted beanies or those furry oversized Moroccan hats all this winter. Styles in fashion are hats that are either huge and puffy or small and pointy. The fur-lined hood incorporated into the garment is also making a comeback this winter.
Coats
Coats for this season come with a nice chunky coat that has ruffled sleeves and funnel collars. Other designs included coats with wide-set collars and a rich, shaggy texture.
Fabrics
The predominant fabric trend this season is fabrics that are reworked with different effects on their surface. The fabrics are very solid or concrete, with a kind of untamed natural feel mixed with soft sheen. The winter-themed prints are almost subtle, while the emphasis is on the rich exterior of the fabric.
Light wool or reworked cotton are the basis for the designs that will debut this winter.
Effects
Ready for this winter, designs around these effects complement the feel and texture of fabrics, from long pleats to subtle creases and clearly visible stitching to blistering and tangle effects.
Cashmere incorporated with regular wool and mohair is blended to give the fabric a light but visibly structured look. While some other fabrics are roughly cut to create a thatched effect with a strong thread. Most knits are with heavily accentuated gaiters to bring out a raw, protective feel against the winter cold.
Denim is one of those fabrics that will probably be around forever, this winter the theme is a slight shine in denim with an oxidized look. In fact, you will see a lot of ultra cool effects this season.
Scarves
This season, trade your old winter muffler for those big woolen scarves that can be draped over your shoulders like a stole. Embodied in various prints on matte wool, the scarf lends its wearer, be it a man or a woman, a casual yet protective dressing.
Footwear
Ankle boots in shades of silver and gray are the winner of this winter. They scream elegance and comfort in a very casual way. For women, transparent slippers laced with silver create an almost Cinderella effect.
Jewelry
Jewelry designs highlighting the winter are wonderful accessories, silver snowflake pendants and large brooches such as sprigs of holly or mistletoe make really eye-catching accessories. Chunky silver bangles and large but light dangling earrings add to the effect.
So watch out for these beautiful trends that will take the country by storm. And honestly, you really don't need to own expensive designer clothes to make a statement. Even your local stores will have some of these new designs. This winter season, make sure you indulge in some of these trendy fashions and paint the town red!
