You already know that even celebrities have bad hair days if you watch the tabloids. It seems as though having a less-than-glamorous mane is just part of being human when professional stylists are not present. But you can do your part to stay ahead of the battle by following these great tips for hair care.
1. Make use of a professional conditioner that is made for your kind of hair. While you can save money on shampoo, you should always use a high-quality professional conditioner. Look for products in salons that are customized for your hair type. For instance, select a conditioner designed specifically for chemically treated hair if you have color or a perm. Additionally, avoid all-in-one shampoo and conditioner products. 2. Select a cut that is appropriate for your face and body shape. The number one mistake that people make when choosing a new hairstyle is to pick a style based on popularity rather than how it will enhance their features. Always consider how a new cut will complement or conceal your features and build. A full-bodied cut is better for you if you have broad shoulders than a close-cropped, head-hugging doo. 3. Keep your UV protection products handy. Your hair suffers the same damage that your skin does from the sun and wind. Look for UV-blocking finishing products like mousses, gels, and sprays to combat this. 4. Don't miss your appointments. Did you know that your hair splits more quickly than it grows? Even if it's just a micro trim, you need to get a trim every six to eight weeks. They are good because a good hairdresser knows what to leave on the head and what to take off. 5. Chemicals should be handled by professionals. Beauty therapists must attend school to learn how to handle chemicals and hair treatments. Even if the package says it's easy, using these products can cause damage that can't be fixed. Even if you don't cause your hair to fall out, you might still end up looking like a clown and having to spend a lot of money to have it fixed by a stylist. (Keep in mind that the majority of stylists charge twice as much for corrective color as they do for normal color processes) 6. Get color for interest and body. To truly stand out, every cut needs a little bit of color. No matter whether your taste is subtle or dramatic, you can add interest and volume to your tresses with a color process. Everything from highlights to lowlights to all-over color to gray coverage is good for your look. 7. Conduct conditioning treatments each week. Your hair is constantly under attack from wind, sun, cold, and heat, even if it is in excellent health. When your hair absorbs chlorine and other pool chemicals during the summer, it suffers even more. 8. Purchase a ceramic ionic flat iron. Instead of frying your hair with a conventional metal plated flat iron. With one of these negative ionic flat irons, you can straighten your hair, give it shine, and give it moisture. We each employ T3 irons for all of our work. 9. Make sure you pick the right styling products. Products that leave buildup on your hair should be avoided. If you see white gunk, your product may be coating your hair shaft and is not water-soluble. Along with the white flakes, buildup causes limpness, breakage, and inability to curl. 10. Did you know that using a towel to dry your hair after a shower can result in split ends and create static electricity in your hair? Dont rub the towel back and forth over your hair, scrunch the towel around your hair like your would scrunch crackers in your soup.
Even though none of these tricks will make you look like you hired a hairstylist, they will help you look your best every day. When it comes to hair care, remember that you wear your hair everyday. Now isnt it worth the time, effort and money that it takes to keep it looking spectacular?
