Top 10 Features of the Rolls-Royce Ghost Gamer One-Off: Embracing Vintage Arcade Culture

Normally, special-edition Rolls-Royces are influenced by highbrow pursuits, luxury culture, or obscure history. The stargazing-inspired paintings in the Cullinan Cosmos, couture lace embroidery in the Phantom Dentelle, and the Wraith Black Arrow that paid tribute to a 1930s land speed record car are perfect examples of Rolls-Royce's normal direction when creating bespoke commissions. But the British luxury automaker's latest one-off, the Ghost Gamer, takes a more playful approach, with details inspired by vintage video games.

The 8-bit fun starts on the exterior, which wears a two-tone paint job pairing a Salamanca Blue lower section and a glistening Crystal over Diamond Black upper. The elegant blue hue wears a black coachline running the length of the car, which is interrupted by what Rolls-Royce calls the "Cheeky Alien." The hand-painted addition shows an alien's head and hand peeking out from behind the coachline, next to a pixelated depiction of a video game explosion. The Cheeky Alien motif is green and pink on one side, and yellow and blue on the other, and consists of 89 individual pixels.

More silly details can be found inside, with the cabin upholstered in black and Casden Tan leather. Each seat is embroidered with a player name in a pixelated font: "Player 1" is the driver, of course, while "Player 2" is the front passenger, and "Player 3" and "Player 4" occupy the rear. The pixels that compose the words are a mix of white, red, and blue, which Rolls-Royce says is a nod to the flickering look seen on old arcade game monitors.
