  1. Kathak

It is one of the classical renowned dance forms of North India. Its name derives from ‘kathak, meaning story depicting. One of the unique features of this dance form is that the weight of the body is equally distributed in the vertical and horizontal axes. It is comprised of tals and lays. This dance form usually narrates the story of Mahabharata and Ramayana.

 

  1. Urban(hip-hop)

The urban dance form is basically derived from hip-hop and street dancing. It also draws attention from other dance styles. Grooving and moving are the most important parts of this style. More aggression and steady moves are presented in urban.

                                             

  1. Bachata

Bachata, often known as sensual dance, is a social dance form of the Dominican Republic. It hasn’t gained worldwide popularity to date. It is performed by moving inside a square and showing hip motions. Its so-called inspiration is salsa. It has four major steps which the first three steps of hip motion and the fourth one is tap in the hip moment. Most probably, Latin American music is used to perform bachata.

Ballet is a graceful dance style with flowing movement. In this style, the dancer focuses on body balancing, turning of the leg, and pointed toes. Symmetry is maintained throughout. There are various subdivisions of this style. Tango is a casual sensual dance usually done in pairs. It was originated in the 1880s in Argentina. Majorly dramatic music is played during the performance. The dancer's pose is central to gravity with some cat-like postures along with dramatic expressions. It is a category of ballroom dance.

It is a solo dance form that originated in Spain. It is performed with high grace along with handclaps, body movement, and sophisticated footwork. Rhythm enhances the dance style while creating harmony. Usually, colorful skirts and costumes are worn by the dancers. This style has both a slow and fast tempo, and it narrates a story within the performance.

It is a dramatic dance that arose in the United States in the 20th century. It has six different styles. It is a mixture of modern dance and classical ballet. It is an energetic dance style that includes intrinsic bodywork and grace and twists and turns. Usually, belly dance is said to be performed worldwide and some variations differing from country to country. The fluidity of the belly, bust, and hips are the main key characteristics of this dance. This dance style endures digestion and also helps in balancing the body. It is a delightful and expressive dance.

This form of street dancing was originated in Los Angeles. It is an expressive and free dance style. Rotation of arm, posing, and expression are key elements of this style. Earlier it was done in nightclubs, whereas nowadays, this form has gained popularity and is practiced worldwide.

                                                                 

      10.Contemporary


It is a freestyle dance that combines jazz, modern, classical ballet, and lyrical. The main characteristic of this dance is fluid movements and pointed toes along with stress on the torso. It was originated in the 1980s. It emphasizes more on softness rather than energy.
