What Careers Will Survive?

                           Artificial Intelligence (AI) advancements combined with the demand for a more environmentally friendly future are upending employment in a variety of industries, making many jobs go while others expand. The World Economic Forum's Global Risks Report 2024 takes this issue into consideration. It does this by highlighting which jobs are most likely to grow over the next five years, both in terms of the actual number of employed people and the relative increase in jobs that exist in particular fields between 2023 and 2027. Predictions based on survey respondents and labor market statistics from the ILO are used to make these projections.

                    These forecasts suggest that becoming an AI and machine learning specialist would be a wise choice for anybody seeking career security in the near future. According to the WEF estimate, there will be approximately one million additional jobs in this field by 2027, representing a 40 percent growth.                      However, in terms of absolute growth, the jobs of vocational education instructors, heavy truck and bus drivers, and operators of agricultural equipment are anticipated to rise at the fastest rates during the next five years. On the other side, it is believed that employees who work as data entry clerks, administrative and executive secretaries, and payroll, bookkeeping, and accounting clerks lose the most jobs. These latter three roles are likely to account for more than half of all forecast job destruction in that time frame, according to WEF experts in the 2023 Future of Jobs report.
