TOP 10 AWARDS RECEIVED BY SUREKHA SIKRI

Surekha Sikri Rege was an Indian theater, film, and TV entertainer. A veteran of Hindi theater, she made her presentation in the 1978 political drama film Kissa Kursi Ka and assumed supporting roles in numerous Hindi and Malayalam films and Indian soap operas.

She has gotten three National Film Awards, a Filmfare award, and six Indian Television Academy Awards.  

Following are the top 10 awards received by Surekha Sikri.

1.     1988 National Film Award

The National Film Awards is the most conspicuous film award ceremony in India.

Rajat Kamal and a cash prize of  ₹ 10,000/- is given to Surekha Sikri for her compelling performance as a woman who has not lost her innate human goodness even under the most adverse and stressful conditions of the holocaust as portrayed in the Hindi film TAMAS. TAMAS is a 1988 period TV film written and directed by Govind Nihalani. 

The National Film Award for Best Supporting Actress is an honor presented annually at India's National Film Awards function by the Directorate of Film Festivals (DFF), an association set up by the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The 35th National Film Award ceremony took place in April 1988, and awards were given by then President of India, R. Venkataraman

2.     1995 National Film Award

The 42nd National Film Awards ceremony took place in 1995, and awards were given by then President of India, Shankar Dayal Sharma.

Surekha Sikri received an award for Best Supporting Actress for her compelling performance in the film Mammo, a 1994 Indian Hindi film by Shyam Benegal. The film Mammo stars Farida Jalal, Surekha Sikri, Amit Phalke and Rajit Kapur.

3.     2008 Indian Television Academy Award

The Indian Television Academy Awards, also known as the ITA Awards, is an annual event coordinated by the Indian Television Academy to respect Indian television's excellence.

Surekha Sikri received the award, Best Actress in a Negative Role, for Balika Vadhu.

Balika Vadhu is an Indian soap opera broadcasted on Colors TV between 21 July 2008 and 31 July 2016 and ran for 2248 episodes becoming the longest-running Indian television series on Colors TV.

4.     2009 Indian Television Academy Award

ITA Award for Best Actress in a Negative Role is an award given by the Indian Television Academy Awards for TV serials to perceive a female actor who has delivered an extraordinary performance in a negative role in an antagonist's role.

Surekha Sikri again received the award, Best Actress in a Negative Role, for her performance in Balika Vadhu.

5.     2010 Indian Television Academy Award

Surekha Sikri received the ITA Award for Best Actress – Drama is an award given by the Indian Television Academy for Balika Vadhu.

6.     2011 Indian Television Academy Award

Surekha Sikri again received the 2011 Indian Television Academy Award of Best Actress-Drama for Balika Vadhu.

7.     2014 Indian Television Academy Award

Surekha Sikri again received the Indian Television Academy Award of Best Actress-Drama for her performance in Balika Vadhu.

8.     2016 Indian Television Academy Award

Surekha Sikri received the award, Best Actress in a Negative Role, for her performance Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani, an Indian TV period drama officially broadcast on Zee TV on 27 July 2015.

9.     2019 National Film Award

The 66th National Film Awards ceremony was the award function in 2019 to honor the best films of 2018 in the Indian film.

Surekha Sikri received an award for Best Supporting Actress for her compelling performance in the film Badhaai Ho. Badhaai Ho is a 2018 Indian Hindi-language comedy-drama movie directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma and produced by Sharma, Aleya Sen, and Hemant Bhandari under Chrome Pictures and Vineet Jain under Junglee Pictures, with Priti Shahani serving as co-producer.

10.     2019 Filmfare Award

The Filmfare Awards are a bunch of awards that honor artistic and technical excellence in the Hindi-language film industry of India.

The Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actress is given by Filmfare as part of its yearly Filmfare Awards for Hindi films to perceive a female actor who has delivered an outstanding performance in a supporting role.

Surekha Sikri received the award for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film Badhaai Ho in the 64th Filmfare Awards ceremony, presented by The Times Group, and the function was held on 23 March 2019 in Mumbai.

Her passing was condoled by many members of the film industry. Meanwhile, her alma mater National School of Drama (NSD), took to Twitter to lament her demise. NSD called Sikri's death an “irreparable loss” for Indian theatre.
