TOP 10: Animal box office collection day 9: Ranbir Kapoor-starrer breaks Dangal’s record in India, earns over Rs 395 crore

It seems like "Animal," despite facing criticism, has been performing well at the box office, both domestically and globally. The film, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna, Bobby Deol, and Anil Kapoor, has garnered significant attention for its box office success.

As of the latest available information, the film has earned Rs 395.27 crore domestically and Rs 660.89 crore globally. It has surpassed the lifetime collections of Salman Khan's "Tiger Zinda Hai" and entered the top 10 list of all-time highest-grossing films worldwide.

However, the success of the film has not shielded it from criticism. "Animal" has faced backlash for allegedly glorifying toxic masculinity and being excessively violent and gory. Despite these criticisms, the movie has managed to outperform other major hits in its debut week, surpassing the first-week collections of films like Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan" and Sunny Deol's "Gadar 2."

It's interesting to note that "Animal" is still behind Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan," which earned Rs 464.8 crore in its first week, making it the highest-grossing Indian film of 2023. The film is anticipated to face competition in the southern states from Prabhas' "Salaar," scheduled for release on December 21.

Rashmika Mandanna, one of the lead actors in the film, took to social media to defend "Animal" and shared insights about her character Gitanjali. She emphasized that her character is portrayed as pure, real, unfiltered, strong, and raw. The director justified the actions of the characters by stating that it was their story, their love, passion, families, and lives.

Despite the criticisms, it remains to be seen how "Animal" will continue to perform at the box office and whether it can surpass the collections of Shah Rukh Khan's "Jawan" in the coming weeks. The release of Shah Rukh Khan's "Dunki" on December 21 and Prabhas' "Salaar" may also impact its future box office performance.
