In today's competitive world, education is playing a vital role. For proper education, the teacher and student relationship must be good, and the teacher shall play a prominent role in molding the students.
First of all, what is teaching? Teaching is an activity to instruct someone or to impart knowledge regarding skill or a subject. There are 2 types of teaching. They are:
1. Formal Teaching: It takes place in schools, colleges, etc.,
2.Informal Teaching: It takes place from our childhood. In our childhood days, our mother taught us how to eat, how to speak, etc.,
There are some objectives to be a good teacher. They are:
1. The first and foremost objective is to provide knowledge and skills to the students.
2. The teacher should consider not only the studies but also helps in the overall development of the students, which includes inculcating moral values, punctuality, discipline, unity, and leadership.
3.Teacher also plays an important role in bringing changes in the attitude of students.
4. Teacher should take care of the students in every stage of their life. Even in their teenage, they commit mistakes, and they need someone to direct them.
5. Teacher helps the students to be better citizens of tomorrow.
Teachers possess certain qualities which will make students learn better. The teacher should be qualified and knowledgeable. She must know the various strategies, methods, and models to teach students interestingly, and she also has to know where and how to use those models and strategies. She must know to present the teaching materials in an interesting way so that students would be engaged. She must have a positive attitude and a good sense of humour. And if a student feels down she must motivate the student to succeed in life.
The teacher wants to be a facilitator. She must work together with students and have good communication with students. She doesn't want to be like an authoritarian. Teacher should be devoted and determined towards the better future of the students. The most important criteria is DISCIPLINE . Discipline is the important requirement of a teacher. In the absence of discipline, the teacher cannot teach the students, no matter how qualified they are.
There are many methods to teach a lesson. Some of the notable methods are
1.Lecture Method:In which teacher orally present the lesson. It is an one way communication. It becomes boring, if the teacher has not planned the lecture properly.
2.Demonstrative method: In this method, the teacher explains and practically shows the working of any procedure or project, due to which learners actively participate in the learning process. It boosts and encourages the motivational level of students.
Because it is two-way communication. 3.Discussion method: This is the best among all methods. In which a teacher and student discusses the topic. It helps in improving the communication skill, critical thinking, and creative thinking of the students. In this method there is maximum participation of the students.
4.Seminar method: This method is similar to the lecture method or traditional teaching method (classroom teaching).
5. Brainstorming method: This method is used for developing ideas and getting students to think up new concepts and ideas.
The teacher collaborates with different teaching methods to make lessons interesting. 6.Team teaching method: This is an interesting method in which more than one teacher plans the activities and evaluation strategies. Withing.In which the past knowledge of various teacher will lead to better teaching experience. But the demerit of this method is that it is a teacher-centric approach.
