How Our Reliance on Technology is Making Us Afraid of the Future world?

How Our Reliance on Technology is Making Us Afraid of the World Around Us?

How much do we rely on the internet in our everyday lives? While it makes tasks like research and staying in touch with friends, family, and colleagues easier and faster, it also deeply impacts our mental health.

The more reliant we become on technology, the more disconnected we feel from the world around us. Some people even develop what’s called internet phobia (also known as homophobia), which means that they fear the idea of being without the internet or their cell phone for some time.

 What is Internet Phobia?

Internet Phobia, also known as homophobia, is a fear of being disconnected from the internet. This can be for any number of reasons, including but not limited to losing one's only source of communication or entertainment and feeling helpless when faced with unfamiliar technology.

In some extreme cases, people may have a full-blown panic attack when they cannot connect to Wi-Fi. One study showed that 33% of Americans worry about how their life would be impacted by losing their phone service or access to internet services, while another study found that 79% use the internet at least once daily. We are addicted to our phones and even more so, we are addicted to the internet.

 What Causes Internet Phobia?

There are many possible causes for internet phobia. Some people might become over-reliant on their devices and use them as crutches, while others might be afraid of how technology will impact their lives.

Telecommunication and internet services can impact our lives in a variety of ways, from how we communicate with friends to how we conduct business.  Many people are so dependent on these services that they experience anxiety when they can't access them due to an emergency or natural disaster.

Signs of an Over-Reliance on the Internet,

Over-relating on technology has become a common societal issue. Whether it's an addiction to social media, always checking your phone for messages, or not leaving home without your laptop, we are overusing the internet. But what does that mean for our society?

Telecommunication- It's a sign of our reliance that we see people talking less in person and using more text communication. When we're just getting started with something new, it can be normal to rely heavily on text-based interaction before gradually transitioning to in-person interactions. However, as time goes by this becomes less important, and we start texting more than communicating with others face-to-face.

 How to Overcome Your Fear

It's hard to admit that you're afraid. It's even harder to admit that you're afraid of something as seemingly harmless as the internet. You may think this fear is silly or overblown, but it can be very real and deeply rooted in some people. If you are one of these people, and you want to overcome this fear, try taking these steps:

1-Identify what triggers your phobia. Is it certain websites? Certain TV shows?

 Deep Impact of the Internet

In a world where we can connect with anyone at any time, it's no wonder that our reliance on technology has gone off the charts. There are tons of studies that show how social media and internet usage have hurt our mental health.

Many people have become so dependent on their devices and screens that they've developed what's known as internet phobia. It's a condition in which people are too scared to leave their homes for fear of not being able to find Wi-Fi. They also have an obsession with checking their phone every few minutes, even if it doesn't have any new notifications or updates.

The dark side of the Internet

Technology has a dark side, and it's not just social media addiction. While we can't deny that technology has changed our lives for the better in many ways, it's also harmed society.

Some people, like author Sherry Turtle, believe that we're losing human connection because we're too busy staring at screens. And one study found that they are more armored to people who are afraid of being out in public than those who are afraid of public speaking.

Some studies show that technology can be addictive and interfere with sleep patterns because our brains release dopamine when we check our phones or watch videos on YouTube. It's something to think about before you hop onto your next social media platform or post something online. What will your next mistake be?
