The Wedding Night

A wedding night is considered to be one of the most anticipated and spectacular night for every human being on this planet. Hi, my name is Keshav and today I'm going to tell you a complete strange experience of that night.

I never had any female in my life except my mother since I got my senses. We were three brothers and I was the eldest. After having completed my entire education from the boys' university I chose my path towards the corporate sector. But I faced a problem there because of a void in my life, I was normal, once felt attracted to one girl but she was already engaged. So, after my four years in corporate, I decided to marry.

Yes, it was entirely my decision. I told my parents that I wanted to marry. While I was working hard for my payraise, meanwhile my mother found a match for me.

I received a random call one day.

'Hi, Keshav, how are you?' A girl spoke over the phone.

I saw the number. Truecaller was showing her name, Megha.

'Excuse me, do I know you?' I asked.

'You will know me very soon, in fact, this Diwali we're going to meet.' She said.

'One minute, you called me, right? Keshav Singh.' I asked to confirm.

'I think no wrong caller would call you by your name.' She confirmed.

'And why are we going to meet?' I asked.

'Your mother chose me, for you, and my mother chose you for me. So, if we are going to spend life together then I think we deserve some chit-chat first, this get-to-know-each-other thing.' She said.

'Oh, well, but I never thought that you would call me first.' I said.

'Life is unpredictable.' She said.

'Can I see your picture?' I asked.

'So, you want to know whether I'm pretty or not?' She asked, chucked.

I chuckled too.

'I have 1300 friend request pending in my facebook, now you can guess.' She said.

'Yeah, but I'm not in your 1300 lovers list.' I said.

'Hmm... point.' She said.

'Okay, do you had any boyfriend or boyfriends?' I asked.

'I had, three.' She said.

'They weren't lucky like me, I think.' I said.

'How?' She asked.

'You never called them first, I believe.' I said.

'Yeah, that's true.' She said.

'Okay then, we will meet on my returning.' I said.

'Yeah, sure, free yourself from your office chores, bye.' She said.

This made me feel good and weird both. We talked a few more times and now first time in life I had a hurry in my mind to meet someone.

One month later:

I was sitting in front of a girl and after seeing her I knew the reason why she had 1300 pending friend requests.

We greeted each other with casual hello and after that, I had no words to say to her but she was expecting.

'I never talked to a girl in any cafe.' I broke the silence.

'I know.' She said.

'I was just wondering about your first sentence to me.' She said further.

'How do you know?' I asked.

'You changed your profile picture two years ago on facebook, never had an Insta account and your WhatsApp DP is DP-less, since one month and I think you don't even remember when did you put your DP.'  She said.

'I don't know.' I said.

'Your mother described you exactly and you're no different; a plane paper.' She said.

'So, is it a test?' I said while sipping coffee.

'No, my first boyfriend cut his vein for me, second bought a KTM Duke for me and third, he just cleared an exam so he could talk to my parents.' She said.

'So, why me?' I asked.

'Because you're just you, you don't have me in you.' She said.

'You don't need to break three hearts just to learn this philosophy, that's absurd.' I said.

'We're girls, we take time to know exactly what we want from us and everyone suffers his own sufferings.' She clarified.

'So, I think we should marry.' I directly asked.

'That was expected of you.' She said and smiled.

Two months later we got married and that was our wedding night.

I was utmostly terrified since I've never shared a bed with anyone since my school. My friends pushed me inside the room and I kept ignoring their salacious advice.

I gently sat beside her.

She pressed the speaker button and played my favourite song, Hume tumse pyar kitna...

My face expressions turned to joyous. I mustered up my courage and kissed her forehead. I gifted her a necklace.

'I used to hear this song on my father's tape recorder. How do you know I like this song?' I asked.

'I know many things.' She said.

'Well stop, this is getting opposite, usually, guys surprise girls, they do research about what girls do like and what they don't.' I said.

'Life is unpredictable.' She said.

We laughed.

'I had some feeling that this smile and laugh is familiar to me, I tried to guess it earlier but I've met someone who had a smile like you.' I said.

'Seventeen years ago, you have seen that smile.' She said.

'Seventeen years ago? You mean, we've met somewhere seventeen years ago.' I said.

I stood up and started roaming in the room. I was thinking about where had we met.

'Maybe, in some relative's wedding.' I guessed.

'Wrong.' She said.

I went to the bathroom and covered my head with my hands. I came after fifteen minutes, she was waiting for me desperately.

I removed her pallu to gaze upon her waist and I found that burnt mark.

'Shalini!' I said.

'So you remembered your primary school classmate?' She said.

'That is... '

'That is not a coincidence, I told my father to search for you and when he did, I came back for you. I've never stopped thinking about you since we departed seventeen years ago, I know we were kids but something inside me, that developed for you that time still resides inside me. That was the whole of my plan. I was just waiting for the right time.' She said.

'That cracker's burnt mark is still there.' I said.

'Yes, it's a memory of your mischief.' She said.

'God kept me single for a reason.' I said.

'And that reason is served.' She said.

We glared into each other's eyes and forwarded to kiss each other. We kissed and unwrapped each other and made love.

'I think it's your first time too.' I asked her.

'Exactly, I never allowed anyone.' She said and lay down into my arms.
