The ministry said in a statement, Sunday, that 5 terrorists who were preparing to launch an attack on the Operation Peace Spring area were neutralized, and the ministry confirmed, according to the Turkish Anadolu Agency, that its forces will continue to neutralize the terrorists wherever they are detected.
It is noteworthy that the Turkish forces, in cooperation with the Syrian National Army, carried out operations “Euphrates Shield”, “Olive Branch” and “Spring of Peace” in northern Syria, against the “ISIS” and “PKK/YPG”.
Through the operations, the three thousand kilometers of land were cleared of terrorists, and thousands of Syrians were able to return safely to their lands.
A member of the Presidential Council of the Syrian Democratic Council Sihanouk Dibo confirmed, on Sunday, that imposing an air embargo on the north and east of the country is an "initial step" to achieve sustainable peace.
He said, in statements broadcast by the Kurdish "Runahi" channel today, that "the best step for the international community in the current situation is to impose an air embargo on all of northern and eastern Syria in preparation for the beginning of a sustainable solution to the Syrian crisis."
He also pointed out that the air embargo will reflect "positively" on the entire region, and will enhance its security and stability, noting that what he described as "Turkish interventions" in Syria "complicated" the course of the Syrian political process.
These statements come, after Turkish presidential spokesman Ibrahim Kalin announced, last Wednesday, that it is possible to carry out his country's military operation in northern Syria "at any time", according to an assessment of the security risks for Ankara.
"We will not ask anyone for permission to carry out the military operation in northern Syria," Kalin was quoted by TRT channel as saying. "We do not have to tell anyone about its date."
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu made almost the same comments last week, saying that Turkey "never asks permission" from anyone before launching a military operation in Syria.
During a tripartite summit with Iran and Russia, on July 19 in Tehran, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has been threatening to launch a Turkish military operation in Syria since May, said that he is counting on "Russia and Iran's support in fighting terrorism," but his counterparts are cautious. That any operation in northeastern Syria would harm various parties in the region.
It is noteworthy that, since 2016, Turkey has carried out three military operations in Syria on its southern borders, targeting Kurdish factions and organizations, and launched an attack in early 2020 against the Syrian regime forces.
While the People's Protection Units (YPG) controls part of northern Syria, it is the main Kurdish faction in Syria, and Ankara considers it a branch of the Kurdistan Workers' Party, which Turkey, the United States and the European Union classify as a "terrorist organization."
Turkey expressed its dissatisfaction with Germany's rejection of the possible operation, in northern Syria, against the "Syrian Democratic Forces", while Turkish intelligence revealed the killing of a wanted man in a terrorist attack that took place in Istanbul in 2008, in a qualitative operation carried out in Al-Hasakah, northeastern Syria.
